Mock drafts using the simulators are just so bogus, especially in 2021 when all of the draft boards are all over the place. I cannot believe the differences in player ratings among the different simulators. But I decided to post my first mock draft after using the PFN draft simulator.

Being a mock, there is no fear in trading down. The simulator made me some offers and I took them.
Here is the result.

28. Greg Newsome II CB, Northwestern - 6'0", 192 lbs. 4.37 40, 18 reps, 6.94 3-cone, 40" vertical
44. Aliim McNeill DT, North Carolina State, 6'1", 317
60. Jamin Davis LB, Kentucky, 6'3", 234lbs. 4.37 40, 42" vertical
75. Walker Little OT, Stanford, 6'7", 313 (Stanford players are usually smart)
90. Quinn Meinerz OG, Wisconsin-Whitewater, 6'3", 320 lbs. (he had me at the Sr. Bowl)
99. Tyler Shelvin DT, LSU, 6'2", 350 lbs.
115. Andre Cisco S, Syracuse, 6'2", 209 lbs.
138. Anthony Schwartz WR, Auburn, 6'186", 4.26 forty
179. Derrick Barnes LB, Purdue, 6'0", 238 lbs.

The trades netted me:
2022 2nd round pick from New England
2022 2nd round pick from Minnesota
2022 2nd round pick from New Orleans
2022 6th round pick from New Orleans

My comments: New some is not the best CB in the draft, he might be 4th or 5th. But he is athletic and talented. After picking up 3 2022 2nd round picks I thought he was a good option for Dallas. McNeill at 44 was not a difficult choice. He is not tall but he is strong and quick.

Jamin Davis is not talked about enough. His pro-day numbers prove he is athletic and I think a bargain at 60. Walker Little should be a solid OT. Then I took Quinn Meinerz. I loved this guy since the Sr. Bowl, not just because he bullied some of the top DTs in the league in practice, but because of what he put himself through to get to that point where he could do that. He is a hard worker and self-motivated. I just think he will work as hard as necessary to make himself an top OG in the NFL. He could take over for Connor Williams in 2021.

Shelvin is just a blob in the middle of the DL. He won't rush the passer but on running downs he will be hard to move off his spot. Could be the 1T the Cowboys have needed for years. Cisco is a solution at safety. Not my favorite but at 115 he was the best player for Dallas on the board.

Anthony Schwartz is a poor man's DeSean Watson. The Cowboys need speed like his on offense. All he does is beat DBs deep, but at 138 I'll take him to do just that. Finally, my last pick since I only did 5 rounds is Derrick Barnes, what I call a football player. He plays the LB position like old school LBs who just wanted to hit people.

Adding 3 2nd round picks in 2022 would be great next March when we are talking about the 2022 draft.

In reality, I don't think the Cowboys draft will look anything like this. I think they stay at 10 and take a player.

Schwartz is a day three WR that actually makes sense, the deep threat we've needed. They've reportedly met with him.

he would be the fastest WR we’ve had since Alexander Wright

I think teams would have to account for him when he's in the game.

Strengths
  • World class sprinter with game-changing speed.
  • Requires additional coverage attention when he's on the field.
  • Useful weapon or decoy with jet sweeps or ghost motion.
  • Blows right by confident man coverage in getting deep.
  • Threat of long speed creates easy throw and catch underneath.
  • Able to change route direction while maintaining scary speed.
  • Bursts free to separate from route stems.
  • Open-field vision and wiggle to put it in the paint after the catch.
  • Full-time gunner potential if he can improve as a tackler.

-Actually a big fan of Newsome, he is an excellent fit for the cover 3.
-McNeil might be too high, Davis too low.
-Meinerz isn't a good fit to our zone blocking scheme

DeSean Watson?
