As many noticed, very hard to project this yr, based on no combine, workouts or 30 visits. Here is a mock, not with a simulator, but rather on the rumors of players the Cowboys have been linked to and their projected draft positions:

1-Surtain CB (they are reportedly very high on a particular corner, it's either Surtain or Horn)
2-Holland S (think there is little chance they head into the season with just Kazee)
3a-Milton Williams DE/DT (whole team of scouts attended his pro day)
3b-Togiai DT (Quinn reportedly went to Ohio State to look at him)
4a-Niemann LB (we heard their interest this week)

thats a helluva 3rd round.
another possible target there i think is miami de quincy roche.

I know I'm a broken record at this point, but I can't not feel that they are going to have a first round grade on one of these edge guys that the rest of the world is knocking down for one reason or another.

Similar to when they had a top 15 grade on Sean Lee, when everyone else had him lower due to the injury history.

Pick 44 will end up being someone like this.

2nd rd is always the hardest to project for the Cowboys as they usually take gambles in that rd.

There are examples of gambles yes, but I'd pin it more on them screwing up the grades of those players.

I'd be happy with those picks. Taking 2 DTs would almost convince me the Cowboys think it is an important position! Niemann ran the 4th fastest 3-cone drill of all the pro-day participants. Not bad for a 6'3", 240lb LB. The only disappointing thing about this draft is there are no offensive linemen to backup the OTs or to take Connor Williams spot at LG.

This is based on what I have read or heard, I’m pretty sure they have interest in som offensive lineman, it’s also very possible either Sewell or Slater could be the pick if Surtain is off the board.

keep up the good rumors I'd be happy with this but who is 4b {hint] we need a olineman

Maybe Rousseau. He'd actually be a really good fit here too. Alot of places have had him outside the first, and I dont really get it. Maybe over scrutinized at this point, because he was looked at as a potential top 10 before.

Of the other first round edges, Paye has been holding steady as a mid first, and Phillips has been rising to where he is getting a little bit of top 10 chatter

Rousseau is one of those prospects that the media may like more than scouts.
A majority of his wins came lining up inside.
He's not a natural bender, and he's so gangly that it takes him forever to gather and change direction.
He profiles as a LDE/5T, yet he's currently way too thin to succeed in that role against NFL O-linemen.
What do you do with him?
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Rousseau slips to the 2nd round.

Right now he is probably scheme specific. Long term I think he could be an LDE. However right now he needs a scheme that is going to play him in different gaps, from a 6 to a 3. He would be a fit here, because we would do that. But he isnt going to fit alot of places

All Im saying is that he can be this years bust easily.. I just measure metrics, and Rs metrics to bust are based on environment friendly,, you can hit with R if your built for his installation into your defense,, better have an established interior DL.
R is probably the biggest busts in this draft.

If he goes in the 2nd or late first I don't think he will be a bust. He had more bust potential early when some people still thought he could be an RDE. If we drafted him, he would be a productive player in 2021, because we would play him at 4T and 3T on passing downs
