Define “Hater” so i know which answer would be best, or what opinion to share.

There are quite a few Mickey "dislikers" on here that will start throwing the insults toward him no matter what. He can write ...Good morning it is 72º and sunny, and the Cowboys are working out early this morning....and many will find fault with that, or knock him somehow.

I am all for drafting only the best defensive players this year. Ignore the offense, they paid Dak franchise money, and so he needs to perform like a franchise QB with what he has now. Which is not chopped liver. Focus on only defense this year and make it a top 10. If anything, 2021 is the year to bring the D back to Dallas.

And nobody knows if he can cover down field so that automatically has me saying no thanks.

The things he stands out for are the same things that Jaylon Smith is actually good at.
I keeping hearing those Jaylon comps, and it comes from people that just read scouting reports. The comp is incredibly lazy

Ahhhh Mickey, he's been banished from most of the podcasts, which is a really good thing.

Now he's part of the tour package to "talk X's and O's with Mickey Spagnolia" as if there are human beings that exist that think Mickey Spagnolia can speak elaborately about football strategies?

Can't wait til he's no longer associated with this organization. Awful at his job and an even worse human being.
Right on que.

It’s not a comparison just a look at their skill set.

Please feel free to pull up the game where Penn has him dropping into coverage and not just blitzing down hill or guarding check downs underneath.

If you want that then Jaylon can do those things and can do them pretty well.

The problem is that if a guy is only good at blitzing, like Jaylon, then you can’t just have them on the field when you want them to blitz or it’s a give away. So they have to be able to cover.

Where is the Micah Parson covering guys video? There isn’t one. It’s just projection which makes him a super risky player unless you are of the belief that the NFL is suddenly going to play football like they did 15-20 years ago again.

There is no use in the modern game for linebackers who can’t cover.

You obviously like Mickey, and there isn't anything wrong with that. More power to you........

I dislike Mickey because he doesn't have the balls to publicly bad mouth Jerry for destroying a one proud franchise. Others in the media have stood up to him and spoke their mind. Granted, Jerry black listed them for it, and once even pulled flagship radio privileges away from a station for doing it. But Mickey has never once uttered a negative word. Is he just taking the high road or is he a gutless ball sucker? I lean towards the latter.

Mickey's latest, on drafting the BPA on defense and not gearing it toward a CB.
Makes some good points on 3 different LB's. And that depth in the 1st 2 rounds at CB & LB gives the Cowboys some options.

However I think they could trade down from 10 an still grab one of the 3 LB's, as well as CB's.

Nothing rah rah here for you haters to whine about, just some good info.
Wouldn’t mind at all if a LB is the pick. Defense, defense and defense the rest of the way.

Mickey is the ULTIMATE company man.

Which means his head is so far up Jerry's butt he has a permanently brown face.

You want a pure coverage backer, then draft Jabril Cox. Guess what.....all draft picks are projections. Parsons has ever trait you want in a LB who can develope into a coverage LB. You are drafting him to be a catalytic downhill player

Yeah I’ll pass all day on down hill linebackers unless they play on the edge.

But hey.. I’m sure the Cowboys probably agree with you and we’ll just have to cross our fingers and hope he isn’t Jaylon part 2 when he isn’t coming downhill.

In the trillion and a half draft simulators I have done, pathetic I know, I trade down about 80 pct of the time. The only time I don’t is when Sewell slips to me and a couple times for Pitts. I hold my nose when I draft Pitts. Usually means I grab Horn later in Rd 1 or Little, Radunz, or Jenkins real late in round one. I go heavy DT and LB in rounds 2-4. Not sure why I am typing this because it means absolutely nothing.
It means a lot too me!!

This is where Broadus would chime in and derail the podcast. He’d probably say something something something window dressing the board something something.

Parsons has even played edge. I never knew that til I watched some tape. He has great instincts and range. He DOES play with a mean streak. His off the field stuff might make some pause.
I looked, but really couldn't find much aside from some hazing stuff. That would not be any sort of deal breaker for me.

I think people are disregarding that. He is still ranked as the top defensive player even with a year off. If he’s there you have to take him and be ecstatic
The only two I would even consider over Parsons are Lawrence(of course) and Sewell. Oh, and Wilson.

After that, it's really a free for all.

mick wants parsons at 10. I am starting to warm to the idea. Something about Surtain seems like snake oil..not that he isnt a good player, but I dont see him as an alpha dog that we need on d that can emotionally lift this unit on his back and elevate them. He seems more like a Byron Jones clone. To me, haven't we seen this before? I feel like Carolina might take Parsons. For me, if we want an alpha dog impact player at 10, we better roll the dice on Parsons or Horn. Pitts will be long gone. OR we could take horn at 10 then come back for Nick Bolton at 44. Both would fill glaring needs immediately and see heavy playing time week 1. Nick has has alpha dog in him too. A tackling machine and leader.
Although not the consenus best \ highest rated defensive prospect (I've viewed Farley ranked 1st in a half-dozen mocks), Parsons or Surtain have been 1-2 as being the first defensive players picked. Earliest projections for both - Parsons @ 7 to Detroit, Parsons @ 8 to Carolina, Parsons & Surtain @ 9 to Denver, Surtain @ 10 to Dallas.
