We have the opportunity to take the best talent on defense in this draft and it looks like we will settle for a corner because of need.

Our pass rush isn’t anything special to begin with and there is a guy with Joey Bosa type of talent just sitting there waiting to be picked.

Now is there some concerns we as fans can’t get answers to? Sure.

But Dallas has a chance to pick a prototype player at a premium position and all signs point to them taking a do nothing corner.

If you want to take our defense to the next level you draft players like this.

I don’t understand how their could be so much hype about K’lavon Chaisson a year ago and a year later we are so confident in our pass rush that we are thinking of taking a corner.

People get mad that we drafted injured guys LVE and Jaylon but want to draft a guy top 10 with a serious injury history.

I get the talent but man what a risk. Teams just can’t afford to bust with a top ten pick. I would feel much better trading back up into later in the first to add him

None of us even know what the risk is.

He’s had 2 successful years at Miami and plays a position that’s not going to take a lot of shots to the head.

Everything we know as fans says this player is a green light unless there is some information that I’m not aware of.

I’m fine with the LVE pick and I still am.

I hated the Jaylon Smith pick and I still do because...

1. He had a potential career ending injury.

2. He was horrible value because we took him with a premium pick when he was viewed as untouchable.

Phillips is putting a high level of football on display for multiple years.

Fair point.

He has TJ Watt potential and Ware athleticism. I hate the idea of CB at 10 but will live with it. Hope the CB board is wiped out at 10.

If we had picked 10th last year, Chaisson likely wouldn’t have been the choice either.

I think the reality is that sitting at 10, there isn’t a DE (or DT) that has value there.

Phillips will likely end up with a team like NE that can afford to take that chance.

He does indeed look like a more athletic Chandler Jones type, which would be a grand slam....

But again....its never gonna not come back to his past.

There's no bigger Phillips advocate than me, and that includes taking him at #10.

That said, it's all contingent on him getting clean (or clarity) medicals back.

Sean Lee ended up being an All-Pro level linebacker every time he was on the field. And if I was re-drafting the 2010 class over again, I still wouldn't take him at 10, because he missed half his freaking career with injuries.

Phillips has had three concussions in three years, hurt his ankle, blown his wrist, and already medically retired once. With a medical history like that, he is a guarantee to get hurt more in the pros. And if he continues to rack up concussions like he has, he'll retire young and I won't blame him for it. I know you are all about upside upside upside Catch, but this is one where the talent just doesn't justify the risk at 10.

And Phillips only played one year at Miami, where's this two successful seasons thing coming from? He played 11 games total at UCLA before transferring and then played 10 games at the U.

In the end, since this is thee very last of this topic lol....

I wouldn't be stunned if Detroit took him at 8, and I also could see him being on the board at 44.

Comes down to things we don't have info on, and how comfortable teams are with him.

Those teams at the end if the first are there due to recent success, and have the latitude to take chances.

It would stand to reason that Dallas has the same "advantage," in the sense that a bad pick can't get the GM fired, but they don't seem to operate accordingly.

Likely due to the idea that being "relevant" is first, and if they happen to win along the way, great.

The smart money is still on them making the safe pick.

You know that.

I tend to be a guy prioritizes positional value. And you got a potentially elite player at the 2nd most valuable position, VS potentially elite players at the 5th. Like you said, you need a medical green light on Phillips, but Im not turning my nose up to him because some pubs have him lower than he should be.

100%

If his medicals check-out the Cowboys should not blink twice about drafting him over a corner.

This guy isn't going to last very long. He will be selected within the first 20 picks or so

Come on Cal.. Let’s stop being the scared bunch and make some moves that actually have boom potential instead of doing the safe 8-8 thing.

You think Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson cares if our coverage gets a little tighter maybe? They’ll fit the football in a golf hole if need be.

Let’s get some guys that out players like them on their backs, disrupt plays, and force turnovers.

On top of all this.. If Gregory or Lawrence get injured then what?

I’m all in on DL over CB but only if his medicals and psych profile check out. The reality is that players who repeatedly get injured i college continue to get injured in the pros

I wish I knew how you guys know this.

Bc I think he's too good to fall beyond that. You know, similarly to how highly you think of him. From what I've heard, teams are not afraid of his medicals long term.

Sorry.. I read the guy isn’t going to last very long and took it as his career wouldn’t last long. My bad.
