You never know, he looks pretty good to me. Guys get Concussions all the time in the NFL.
Exactly. Can’t take the risk. Nice 10 game talent flash against college fodder but too much of an injury risk. And with a stud like surtain filling a major need it’s a no brained.

Im okay with surtain at 10 but you have no problem taking a CB without elite traits. But laugh at taking a high upside prospect who could be the most talented defensive player in the draft. You have to at least consider it. That leaves Brown as our only speedy CB and he likely gets beat out by Jourdan.

I like Surtain a lot and wouldn't mind him a bit but there is a good argument that an upgrade to the pass rush (pick your player I don't really care which one) and a good CB helps the defense more than a great CB and a day two or three developmental edge rusher. our two best DEs had 10 sacks last year and Gallimore had 0.5 from the inside.

You obviously don’t get it. Phillips is one concussion away from retiring again. Are you purposely avoiding the elephant in the room? Surtain has everything you want in a corner.

3rd maybe I would consider Phillips.

Medical concerns too much. You obviously haven’t done your homework on the prospect you are advocating.

I do get it concussions are reality in 2021. Why does every expert have him going top 15-20 then ?

@CowboyRoy go look at the CBs taken top 10 over the last 10 years. Other then Ramsey and Pat P you could argue none are worth those selections. And we’re in a year that has insane depth at the position. You have to at least consider that.

More generic question since I don't think you read my post. Which option improves the defense more
1 better pass rush (inside or outside take your pick I prefer inside) and a good NFL caliber CB of which there will be some in round 2
2 very good CB and developmental pass rusher who may or may not develop.

Inside pass rush would be the best thing for this defense. DT.

15-20 because of his medical concern. We pick 10.
Your saying he’s a third and not even a possibility. I never said we have to take him but to not consider it because of medical is lazy.

Same but Ramsey was special and worth a top five pick. Surtain hasn’t separated himself from the pack imo. Farley was majority of ppls number 1 CB.

Exactly, a monster edge would benefit us immensely, where we can likely find a starting CB relatively easily.

Much bigger issues. Phillips is a major injury risk. Lowest need in our defense. Pass!

How many games has Phillips missed in college because on injury? Too funny. How many times has Phillips retired from football.
So you are saying Jerry will pull the trigger on this kid

Depends who is there in 2nd round . I am staying away from injury risks. Can’t afford any more of those.

Even in a trade down I’ll take barmore over Phillips.

he’s not a monster edge. The guy played 10 games total in college. Major injury concern. If he was good he would be a top 10 consideration.

Lol....sure buddy. We have nothing at DE.

Phillips is one concussion away from no future. Pass!!

You need to do a little more research on Phillips. His "history" is overblown. Go read up on him and realize what's up.
He is the best DE in this class and it's not even close. Adding him would greatly increase the effectiveness of our secondary and overall defense.
