You need to do a little more research on Phillips. His "history" is overblown. Go read up on him and realize what's up.
He is the best DE in this class and it's not even close. Adding him would greatly increase the effectiveness of our secondary and overall defense.

Right back at you. Do more reading. Payne is ranked over him in most drafts. Phillips retired for concussions. Played 10 games in college. 8 sacks. I’ll pass.

He would sit behind Lawrence and Gregory.

You keep saying he will sit behind them like we won’t rotate DL. And move ppl around.
Your just stuck on what you want and ignoring everyone. He’s way better then Paye that’s blasphemy.

He wont be starting. Sure he will get in there, but he isnt playing over Gregory or lawrence. I dont want any more injury risk guys. We have higher needs all over this defense and plenty of good prospects to fill them available at the 10th pick and trade downs.

I would love nothing more then some stud DE, there just isnt one in this draft and certainly not one worth taking at 10. Heck give me Barmore over Phillips all day, everyday. The guy would start from day #1 and really help the pass rush and run game.

True, when I look at how much money Byron Jones and even Awuzuie got in FA it really shows what teams value.

Cant be taking RB's, TE's with top 10 picks unless your team is one player away and its a major need. Even then its risky.

Did any of you pay 5 or 10 bucks to read this as premium content?

There is no such thing as a lock down CB if the QB has all day to throw. More than 2.3 seconds I believe.
Absolutely true. The obvious choice is Barmore but there has to be another David Irving type in this draft that could beat interior offensive lineman even if it's a DE that moves inside on passing downs. And I really don't know that much about Quinn's coverage scheme but an article I read said it was predicated on forcing the QB to get rid of the ball early.

You never know, he looks pretty good to me. Guys get Concussions all the time in the NFL.

True but, and maybe I am wrong, isn't the prevailing opinion that once you get one, it's easier to get additional ones? Phillips had to quit the UCLA team because he got three concussions. On top of that he's had issues with his ankles and he had a really bad wrist injury after crashing a moped.

So the guy has medical flags. He had no issues at Miami but a guy with that injury history is concerning for sure. I like him and think he's the best DE in terms of raw skill in this draft. I'd take him over Rousseau, his teammate, who I think is overrated. But I can't get on the Cowboys or any team for that matter, passing on him at 10 because of injury concerns.

Good point, the LVE neck issue that I didn't really worry about sure bit us.

:lmao2::lmao2::lmao::lmao:

Phillips had all of 10 games of college football. Retired once from concussions. One concussion away from never playing football again. Phillips isn’t even the #1 rated DE in a bad draft for DE’s.

not to mention DE isn’t a position of need. Who’s he going to start over? Lawrence?
agree. Plus the medical. PLUS the off the field thing with his music. Does he love football or does he love music?I'm out on him in round 1. More questions abound on him than its worth in round 1. He might come in and be a 1 year wonder then vanish. The concussions will be his undoing.

I would never take this guy.

DLaw is 29 and Randy is 28 and never played a full season. They had combined under 10 sacks last year. I know Randy didn’t play the whole year but it’s definitely a massive need. We can move ppl around we need interior and edge. No interior player even close to being worth pick 10 of course.

Dallas is putting the cart before the horse by drafting corners when a stud like Phillips is going to be available.

This is a "risk" worth taking. The type of move that potentially gets us out of the middle.

My personal preference is Surtain because of the lesser chance of a bust. Horn may indeed have the higher ceiling, but he also comes with more risk. At #10 overall, I prefer the safer pick.

Hate to say it, but the Cowboys have to go with the safer pick. The downside of Horn not "panning out" is bigger than the upside of Surtain being ready to go NOW. Physical traits are in born for the most part, but technique takes years to develop. For example, if Horn bites on a double move, the receiver is going to be long gone, no NFL receiver is THAT much slower than a speedy cornerback, even a 4.6 forty receiver covers several yards in a second or two, Horn at best might be able to chase him down after a 30-40-50 yard run IF the catch is made inside their own 50, but a catch like on Dallas' 30? Touchdown. Technique keeps the catch from being made, the ball being thrown there anyway or yardage restricted to where the actual catch was.

It's a minor thing, yes, not saying Horn isn't an excellent prospect. But with Gallup, Williams, Gregory, Armstrong and others being free agents after this year, and Neal, et al on one year deals, Dallas has to make a push for the SB, even if they think they're not "ready for prime time" or at the least see how players respond when the pressure's on to get to the playoffs or play in the playoffs. Don't get there this year, going to be a LOT of changes next year....
