Tanking is one of the most cowardly things a team could do

In my opinion. It’s one of the most cowardly things a team could do. Nothing positive comes from it. It can destroy a locker room. It creates a losing mentality. All those people that want us to tank and lose games on purpose. What a waste it would’ve been. It would not have given us a better First round draft choice. Specifically because we’re going to be able to take the best Defensive player in this draft. I hope this such a great example of why you never tank . You just don’t know what the result of it is going to bring. Other than Negativity. Go cowboys hope you have a great draft

I agree, do not tank. However many on here will blast us for this. For they do not understand.

At first I seen the thread title, I thought one of these so called fans was saying to tank 2021 already. :lmao2:
That is how this place is and has become, it makes one think negative thoughts about everything thread started. :muttley:

Entitlement. Getting something for nothing that you don’t deserve. How can you live a life like that. I totally agree with you

Yes but if I’m the coach. I have to live with that for a lifetime. It doesn’t matter what people think. It’s called integrity my cowboy brother

It needs to come from management and not the coach.

Management needs to step in and not tell them to tank but get them to play some guys that maybe shouldn't be playing.

You don't have to stop effort on the field from players and coaches in order to tank.

The Jets losing Trevor Lawrence was just moronic and that win they got against whoever it was does nothing for that franchise going forward besides losing the best QB prospect in a long time.

I agree. However, if you are going to be bad and clean house after the season there is no real harm in losing an extra game to a Trevor Lawrence type player. I don't think anyone would have cared had the Jets lost an extra game because they wanted to see what the backup QB could do for a week. However, if an 8-win capable team decides to lose 7 winnable games then your point is right on.

Yes they will. And that’s even worse than tanking. Forgiving it

This is sports.. Not a Mel Gipson movie.

You're looking to get a advantage somehow some way.

Teams have been tanking in all sports for a long time.. Does anyone care? No.. It's not a topic of discussion because nobody cares.

It sounds cool to say things like them being cowards or whatever but the goal of this sport is to win championships so whatever gets you to that goal is fair game.

Morale victories are for the Jones's who win nothing. Belichick will do whatever it takes to hold up a Lombardi.

Tanking isn't done by players. It's not in their DNA. Athletes want to win, no matter what. Who wants a player who doesn't want to win ALL THE TIME?
.
It's the management, and even coaches, who will likely tank...IF IF IF it happens.

If it comes from management, and not the coach. Then the coach really isn’t in charge is he. I called that micromanaging. And that’s what the Joneses are good at

The Dolphins did it a few years ago and seem to be turning a corner and have 2 more 1st rounders this year. So maybe it works there, but the tough part about tanking is it's awful seeing a team as a fan going through a total rebuild. Often times too the talent you're building around could decline by the time the new players you acquire develop so you're starting the cycle all over again.

Personally I hate tanking, but if its the last few games of the season and you're out of the playoff picture I have no issue with taking players off the field that give you the best chance to win and substitute for the young guys to evaluate.

I think being mediocre is worse than tanking. I rather tank then be good. Then suck.. then tank and be good again. Then being being mediocre for 25 years.
Then you’re really not winning anything are you.

I really don’t care where another team does. Or even another player or another person. I have to live with myself. And I believe it’s cowardly to tank

I disagree with the OP.

you say, what’s the difference? We still get to pick the best defensive player at 10. That’s bad logic. Just imagine sitting at 4. And then trading back to 10 and getting that same “best defensive player” and extra draft capital to boost.

And how wouldn’t have helped us in this draft. It wouldn’t have at all
