Potential surprise 1st round picks

I don't agree with that. If you can get a cornerstone LT get him. But, if you can't, don't overpay. Just go find somebody who you might be able to develop because we are short in terms of Smitty. But yeah, if you can get a generational talent at LT, you are never going to regret that move IMO.

I'm not necessarily saying pass on Sewell if he falls. You still need to pick the best player. But all things being equal, we have higher priorities than OL this year. If the first round comes down to a corner and OL rated the same, we should pick the corner. If we trade down and there's an OL rated the same as a corner, safety, DT and even a linebacker, we should take the defensive player this year. The only concern we really have about the OL right now is whether they can all stay healthy. Granted, there is reason for concern, but if Smith can stay mostly healthy, the position is far better off than any positional group on defense.

Again, I don't really believe that. We have hitched our wagon to Dak, better or worse. That means that for us to win, we must make sure that the OL can protect him and allow the Offense to be more then just functional. It must be proficient. Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree with you on the fact that we need dramatic help on Defense but, a couple of things here.

1. There really is no Defensive Player in this draft, IMO, that is a lock Cornerstone player in my view. Guys that could possibly be but none that are sure fire in my view.

2. The value of the pick, depending on who might fall, is higher for Offensive players. A top 10 pick should be a guy that is on your team for a career, hopefully (and really all first round picks should be IMO), but is that guy there on the Defensive side of the ball at 10? I'm not convinced.

3. As you said, we need a lot of help on the other side of the Football but honestly, I am not sure that we aren't going to get the same guy in the 2nd round, that we are getting in the 1st round. But I am sure that there are a couple of Guys on Offense that are far and away better then anybody in this draft and anybody we've seen come out in a few years. If one of those guys are there, I think you have to take them. JMO

4. I think you have to consider cap and where it's invested. We have already used a high draft pick on Diggs. I think he's going to work out which means we will have to pay him. We will, no matter what, need to draft or sign a do it all FS. That guy will eventually be another DB that is getting paid big time. Probably more then anybody else in the secondary because he's the man in this scheme. If you use another 1st round pick on a Corner, you have to understand that you will have to make a decision at some point. That will come down to Offense of Defense and who are you going to keep. In this situation, I think we have already seen that it will be Offense, based on the decision we've made with Dak and with Byron Jones. This is the issue I have with another CB high.

These are just my opinions and thoughts on who we take and why. Doesn't mean anybody has to agree with them but I feel like all of them are relevant.

Only lock, cornerstone players in this draft IMO are Sewell, Pitts, Chase, Lawrence and Devonta Smith, and one or two of those might be questionable. Slater might be close because he's liable to work out fine at guard if he can't play tackle on this level. However, I'm not sure I'd consider Slater any more of a lock than Surtain. This draft is top-heavy on offense, but it's likely that all of those players who are considered cornerstones will be gone by our pick.

Brady Christensen(6-6,300)OT BYU runs a 4.8 forty,30 reps 3 year starter at LT.

Johnathan Marshall (6-3,315)DT Arkansas 4.75 forty 36 reps

Jabril Cox(6-3,235)OLB LSU runs a 4.5 forty former cornerback.

This kid Radunz is interesting. I mean, he's only like 300 lbs so I don't know if he can put on weight or not, but he is interesting. Kid has decent feet and technically does a good job in his sets, gets really nice angles and effectively gets blocks at the second level. I like him just has the short arm thing going on and is a little undersized. I saw him while I was checking out Lance. He kind of jumps out at you.

Anyhow, here is a highlight vid of him. He has some interesting tape.

He’s really good IMO. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him a late first round pick, though I think 2nd is more like it.

Richie Grant(6-0,194) S Central Florida runs a 4.49 forty. Ballhawk

Tommy Tremble(6-4,248)TE Notre Dame 4 5 forty. Best blocking TE in this draft class. Somebody could fall in love with him for his blocking

Payton Turner(6-5,270)DE Houston

Rashad Bateman(6-1,200)WR Minnesota ran a 4.39,great hands, good route runner. Bigger, stronger, faster than Devonta Smith

Could be, but it could be that 5 of the top 10 are QBs so if that's true, one of those guys will get to us if we stay at 10.
