Why didn’t we take the Bears trade down offer?

I’m not a fan of the Parsons pick but the real missed opportunity was not taking that haul that the Giants got from the Bears:

20th pick
5th round pick
2022 first rounder
2022 4th rounder.

That 2022 first rounder has a chance to be a top ten pick. Feels like we could have traded down and then taken Newsome or Farley at 20.

And you know that was offered to the Cowboys because...?

The Bears knew damn well Dallas wasn't taking a QB.

Maybe Bears didn't offer that package to us.
We did do something similar with the Browns but that 1st round pick ended up in the 20's.

I suspect Cowboys just didn't want to trade down THAT far and lose players who have 1st round grades. Or they really did have Parson targeted and was just thankful that Phili was willing to offer their 3rd for moving 2 spots.

smh, the bears knew the Eagles jumped to grab Smith (since they lost out on Lamb last year) and the Giants didnt need a qb. They thought the Patriots were trying to move up.

It does not matter. The good Cowboys got Micah Parsons. The bad Jerry did a trade down. The ugly he traded within the division to the Eagles who drafted a WR and we have no CBs.

Sh... just lost Caleb Farley to the Titans.

Simple. We wanted a stud. We weren't willing to drop down that far. I think its pretty obvious after signing Neal and drafting Parsons they saw how terrible our LB play was.

I imagine they had a short list of players they rated top 10 and didnt see one of those dropping. We did well to get our guy and a 3rd. Pats were supposed to be an option as well, and it was going to include Gallup.

So you think that Bears who obviously had a plan on making a move up for Fields if he fell, would decide on only making the offer to the team at 13. Not the team at 10 or 12 (after we traded back)? I would almost guarantee that this offer or a framework of this deal was discussed. We passed on it, plain and simple.

you do realize that the Giants would have picked Smith otherwise right? either way one of our division rivals would have would have ended up with him. might as well get a top 100 pick out of it. We can still take a CB with #44 Jerry did a great trade down.

It's this type of post where you ignore the fact Dallas was not offered that deal that will live with your screen name as long as you post here.

Thats not a given. They could have planned a trade back all along. The dream scenario of having Fields and Jones on the board rolled into our laps and we did not capitalize. NY did.
