I’m so confused....Dak hasn’t played a down but they wasted money in him? Parsons hasn’t played a down that pick was dumb.

It’s dumb to trade with Eagles because they got Devonta but it would’ve been smart if we didn’t trade with them and let the Giants get him which is also a division rival?

Trade down with the Eagles was the only smart thing we did.

I just hope we didn’t have that offer from the Bears and turned it down.

You don’t draft players in the first round to get better at run defending. That’s what a stupid team in a modern era would do.

Run defending is mostly about filling gaps and being in the right spots anyways and not a talent thing although this player does do some unique things in that department.
Parsons is far more than a run defender. He’s a freak athlete who can also get to the quarterback and he makes plays.

Yes, the Cowboys took a chance (character-wise) with Parsons but they badly needed a far better talent at LB. That's what they got.

At least it's Rashawn. Jane Slater would have been a better pick than those cornerbacks.
Possibly more talented. But would it have addressed a greater need?

It’s all subjective but I think most critics would argue we need more infusion of talent on defense.

If that was all the kid can do you might have a point. BUT— he is the best pass rusher from the 2nd level in this draft— so yah, he is not just a “run defender”— though he excels in that dept

We sucked last year. If we were good I’d encourage us to take the Bears deal if it was available. But Cowboys were in no position to trade down to 20 and get another Taco or LVE type prospect....we can get one of those next year.

Agreed. All hands on deck to stop the run please. This draft pick looks like a thumper. And did I see right that he ran a 4.3 40.
But can he get to the ball and take them down? (without getting busted up by O-line)

Just askin I don't know this one.

Eagles or Giants get Smith regardless.

I haven’t seen a single report Chicago offered with us. Going up two more picks could’ve made it too much. I would’ve taken the bears trade no doubt. But have yet to see a single source they wanted to deal with us.

So we had to pick and picked the best player on our board
Exactly this.

Now I could see a scenario where maybe they thought they could double dip and trade to 12 then to 20 after giants took parsons maybe but the giants beat them to it...when giants were in the clock I was hoping we'd trade with ne or chi

but who knows...it's all guessing and to pan a team on hypothetical is absurd. Cbs saying we should have gone farley or phillips is even more absurd. It's slater or parsons at that point.

He needs to be great going backwards to validate the pick.

His strengths are the same as Jaylon Smiths. We didn’t need to use a 1st round pick to get a guy who is good sideline to sideline and coming down hill.

His coverage is a projection and just because he’s a freak athlete doesn’t mean he’ll be able to do it.. A lot of quick fast corners can’t cover.

So if he shows he can’t play like a modern day linebacker is supposed to play than it’s a wasted pick.

Where do you guys get these grades and why care about them anyway?

Anyone ranking him as the best defender is a joke.

This is an animal running sideways and coming down hill.. No denying that.

But that is not where a modern day NFL linebacker proves his value.. In 1993 sure but now I’m 2021.

So everything with this guy is projection.

We just took a position that doesn’t hold much value and if they guy proves he can’t cover well then the pick is no more use to us than 54 is now.

Good luck.

If pass coverage is where LB's prove their value in 2021 ...JOK and Jamin Davis would have went top 10. I'm not worried about Parsons at 6'3 250 running a 4.39 covering a TE . It's a passing league but if you can't stop the run they will run it down throat for 200-300 yds/game, see the 2020 Cowboys. You have to be able to do both and no LB does it better in this draft

If Giants don’t trade out of #12, they most likely take Parsons.

He looks like it. I don’t want to see him running people down from behind. Side to side and hit. Also said he is a good blitzer.

Stopping the run is for day 3 players.

This is 2021 and not 1993.. When teams hand off we celebrate. Especially teams with Aaron Rodgers types and such.

And if they take parsons dal trades with chi. I think that's what jerry was seeing. They either get parsons or can trade back twice.

Prisco is an idiot thinking we don’t need a LB. Every one of us knew it was a need.
In the modern NFL of today where teams play so much nickel and dime packages, you don't waste a first round pick on linebackers anymore, the front four and the back end is more important.. How many wasted linebacker picks does this club have to make before they clue in, Lee(great player but often injured), Carter, Smith and LVE.. none have lived up to their billing....I wouldn't take a linebacker until at least the late second round in todays NFL
