Quinn said it will look like a 3/4...I'll be shocked if we run more 3/4 than we do 4/3. We don't have the personnel to do it.

Parsons isn't a 3/4 OLB, he's an off the ball LBr that is really good at blitzing. He plays a completely different position than Ware.

Yeah, he mentioned we’ll be in nickel 60-70% of the time.

Jaylon was a pro bowler in 2019. I'm not ready to give up on him just because he had one bad year(2020). There will be competition for jobs on Dan Quinn's defense. So, whatever happens, happens, and the best guys will get the starting jobs. If Jaylon ends up in that mix then he will have earned it. I truly believe this defense can be very special by the end of the seasons.

He had a bad 2019 season despite the Pro Bowl. The notion that Jaylon’s struggles suddenly started in 2020 is a misnomer.

We will see. Parsons has the ability to be an outside linebacker in the 3/4. He certainly looks like one.

Urban and the guy from Iowa are perfect 3/4 ends and big guy from Kentucky can be the nose. Gregory/Parsons at the outside linebacker spots with Jaylon/LVE in the middle. Perfect 3/4 players.

You sure about that?

I'm not part of the staff that assigns starting positions but are you really cynical enough to believe the people who do this intentionally give the starting jobs to less than the best guys that participated in the process(OTAs & training camp)?

You're sincerely naive if you don't think money plays a factor into decision-making and snaps.

See how you spin this from you being cynical to me being naive? I asked a question you won't directly answer so indirectly I still got my answer.

Show me where you asked a question.

HINT: Questions usually end with one of these things "?"

Yep, that's a question mark if I've ever seen one.

My question was to the board in general as an open discussion, not just one poster. So as much as you continue to resist answering my question, I've got my answer. Now I've got it in spades.

Your question wasn’t to the board. It was addressed to stilltheguru.

I think you’re assuming all these guys can transition to the 3/4 that easy and they can’t.

3/4 DEs are massive...like 6’4-6’6 300 LBs. We don’t really have that.

Also asking Lawrence to be a 3/4 OLB isn’t utilizing the strengths of our best defender.

It will be some kind of 3/4 flex not the traditional Parcells 3/4. The Cowboys will actually have defensive snaps were Parsons, Smith, LVE, and Neal will be on the field together. The linebackers are now the strength of the defense.

I can't see us cutting him this season , I really hope LVE gets healthy because of the two I think he can be a difference maker.....

The mistake here is thinking that what is holding back LVE is his injuries. When he was healthy, he also didn't look all that great, missing assignments, guessing holes, running himself out of plays.

I think the best thing for the Cowboys would be for Parsons and Cox to be players and the Cowboys can lighten the cap hit at LB by cutting Smith after the season and letting LVE just walk.
