Yuck.....I'd like to say I'm a lifelong Cowboy fan but I didn't really start understanding football until around that time. I Don't even remember the Super Bowl years that well. But damn do I remember the Campo years....I remember them like it was yesterday...

Worse yet, almost half of my family are Eagles fans. My mother sides with me. I have an aunt in California that knows Tong Gonzalez which made her a fan of the Chiefs and Falcons. Her children aren't Eagles fans. Then the other half of my family are in England haha. So, I sorta chose the Cowboys because I looked up to Emmitt Smith. Didn't really get off to a good start with the team haha, but I manage. Made my main fursonas heavily around the Cowboys.

Yuck...man I will take nothing away from Bellicheat as a coach but man he gets far too much credit as a talent evaluator...he finds guys who can play in his system but I'm not sure if he finds actually great players.
probably why Kraft said they needed to get better at drafting after spending all that money in FA

Yeah they spent a lot of money on tight ends too which to me is insane....I mean just look at as in Dallas......we all feel pretty good about Swaim and Schultz and didn't have to invest nearly as much in them.

I'm glad we got him. Made getting Wright better.
Yeah part of me is like well it makes up for Wright if he does flame out but the other part of me is like so if Israel fell to the 6th round does that mean Wright would've too? Just something to think about I guess...or not lol. Wright's tape looks good as well. I guess its also worth nothing they see Israel as a safety and Wright as a corner.

My oldest memory of the Cowboys Eagles rivalry was in either 2000 or 2001 at the Vet. I think it was a Sunday Night game, and I remember watching on TV as we got slaughtered. It was brutal. It felt like we'd never beat the Eagles at first. I hated Donovan McNabb because it felt like he was invincible when we would play him. Finally, I went to see the Cowboys against the Eagles in 2003 (my second time seeing the Cowboys live with my first time being the 14-13 win against the Panthers the prior season). We FINALLY for my first time as a Cowboys fan beat the Eagles. I was super happy. Tony Romo and Dak Prescott are the best QBs I've ever seen play for us.

I can definitely understand why we took Wright. I thought it was early, but I get it. Especially with Quinn and the fact he coached Sherman who is also tall. Wright has been talking a lot like Sherman of late too as I've seen on other threads.

You know its also worth noting that Quinn inherited the Legion of Boom. He didn't have say in that personnel....so I say that to say how did he go about building that Falcons defense? We know it was inferior personnel wise but it seems like it looked a lot different in comparison to what the Seahawks did.

True with that. Still, I like the thought of a tall CB and a tall safety. Best part is, Wright and Israel are very athletic from what I see. Wright in particular! With his height and athleticism which he needs at CB, he's taller than most WRs. He's athletic with a nice jump. This allows him to jump for the ball and use his height like Sherman did. I think this pick is going to pay off for us. Quinn may not have had a say in the Legion of Boom, but surely he learned some things from it. The attitude of the players that we drafted I think shows that.

Now that the dust has settled, and the draft is all over, it is time to go through the players we drafted and provide analysis as to what picks made sense, what picks were nonsense/redundant at this time (but can always surprise), and what picks were quietly smart.

1 (12). Micah Parsons LB Penn State (via trade down with the Eagles)
Arguably the best D player in the draft! Great in run stopping and pass rush. No slouch at pass coverage, but he's more of a rusher LB. And we got a free 3rd rounder. No complaints here from me. Great choice.

2 (44). Kelvin Joseph CB Kentucky
Solid choice! A player I wanted. Not a lot of experience, but he's a freakish athlete. At 20, he's capable of developing into a monster. Apparent character issues, but, as long as he behaves off the field, we'll have a phenomenal pick here.

3 (75). Osa Odighizuwa DT UCLA
Freakish athlete at DT. Former wrestler, so he knows how to tackle well. Excellent at pass rushing from the 3T spot.

3 (84 from PHL). Chauncey Golston DE Iowa
Sneaky good pick. I know some people don't like this pick, but I love it! Great choice here. ALso no slouch to run stopping. Here's a video of him:

3 (99). Nahshon Wright DB Oregon State
THis is the one potential headscratcher pick in my view. I like the player, but 3rd round is a bit of a reach for him. However, with it being this close to a 4th round, it might be a bit of a wash. With that said, I like his size and athleticism. He's got solid hands.

Look what he does to the Oregon QB. Great read, great interception! Good speed for his size too. His interception against Washington is a good example of this. I love the way he attacks the ball. A bit like Richard Sherman.

4 (115). Jabril Cox LB LSU
Apparent injury issue to his shoulder, but he's a solid cover LB when healthy. Great value with where we got him. We drafted two wonderful prospects.

4 (138). Josh Ball OT Marshall
Character issues dropped him here. I shall not go into those issues. With that said, he's a massive olineman with great range. Reminds me a bit of Doug Free when I watch him.

5 (179). Simi Fehoko WR Stanford
Smart pick and quietly good value. Tall WR with great speed for his size. Excellent in special teams. I really like this pick.

6 (192). Quinton Bohanna DT Kentucky
At last!! A true 1T DT! Pity it took us this long to find one! Absolute monster in stopping the run and swallowing blocks. Don't expect many sacks from this player. That is not his forte. He can collapse the pocket in pass rush, but the most likely situation in which he sacks the QB is when the QB tries to step up in the pocket. With that said, you're not running the ball on him, and the QB is not going to want to step up with him. Nice move here!

6 (227). Israel Mukuamu DB South Carolina
Fell surprisingly to this spot. Some would say that Wright should've gone here and Mukuamu should've been the 99 pick. Turns out to be a wash. Excellent selection. Sounds like he's going to play S which he's more than capable of. Excellent pick!

7 (238). Matt Farniok G Nebraska
Well, he's a 7th round pick. There's that. But, he is coming from Nebraska where they do have solid LBers. I like the player.

Overall, great draft! Wright was a bit of a headscratcher, but it was a wash with Mukuamu at 227. Plus, Wright is a solid CB. I like what I saw with him. The only other questionable pick was Ball, but he is a solid blocker. With how similar he is to Doug Free, I can certainly understand the pick. I'd give this draft an A- or B+ at this time from what I see.

Sounds like from another thread that our trade down cost the Eagles McNeil and Robinson (UCF CB). This makes the trade down even better! We may not have gotten McNeil, but we kept him out of the talons of the Eagles. So, with that, we screwed over two division rivals! That's a win for us!!
