Got to see it on the field first and I heard him talk. Must have miss the part he said Anae didn't have a role and was 1 inch too short

Focus on the part where he mentioned the 3-4 defense, where Anae doesn't have a fit?

Or compare Anae's T-Rex arms to the 34 inch guys they've signed since Quinn got here?

Or practice willful ignorance?

Your choice.

I found this very interesting. Thoughts running g through my mind:

1. Did we just sign Woods as a smoke screen? If so, was it worth the wasted cap dollars we spent on SB, and was it even a smoke screen at all, considering everyone and their dog knew we needed to upgrade at DT?

2. Do they need his roster spot immediately?

3. Why now? Why not wait until training camp and cut him if he doesn’t perform in training camp. You might need him later on due to injuries, etc.

4. Did he do something that pissed the Cowboys off and they cut him? If so, +1 to the Cowboys for creating a culture of accountability.
It cost literally nothing to cut him
He didn’t get a signing bonus and no guarantees

First of all it's more than 2 inches, and Anae hasn't shown anything to suggest any upside either. Idk the obsession with Anae. He's a 5th-round pick. And it depends what they're going to ask that role to do. It's not going to be a hand-in-the-dirt rusher. Armstrong is much better suited to stack and shed than Anae, and that's where arm length matters. Quinn talked about it, specifically, in his presser.

Golston will make the roster, it's one of the other two that are gone, if not both.
Armstrong is a 4th round pick by a completely different coaching staff. Anae was rated higher than where he was drafted and not a single person said Anae is great or anything.

Don't be surprise when Armstrong doesn't make the team. I had the same debate a couple days ago when I said Woods wouldn't make the team

This is the bad side of NFL business
The CBA favors the teams
That’s why I don’t get fans who complain when a player wants to get paid
They have no control at all over half of their careers

Since you think you listened so well where did Quinn say he was only running a 3-4......

Is this just one of the first of many casualties of the Dak contract?
More like out of the draft when we drafted replacements you hope are better
Woods is a serviceable DT and good locker room guy but he is the definition of a guy you want to replace with more talent when you can

I agree with your statement when a player wants to get paid, but some even before the ink dries start to slack and goof ( Example: Jaylon , to some extent Lawrence )

Fantasy
But our 4/3 appears to be somewhat different which again requires different type of players
That the biggest issue we have
Every few years we get a new DC and have to get guys to fit his system, rather than having a system you hire a DC to run like ravens and Steelers do

umm why offer and sign him to the new deal then cut him? what waste he literally just inked his deal what 2 weeks ago? how much did that cost them?
That's the obvious question. I can only assume they didn't expect to draft the DTs they did, but even then it seems they would wait to get everyone in training camp before deciding. Maybe there was a financial gain by cutting him now?

if you persist in asking sensible questions like this I will have to pull your fan card
I think if you like a guy and I think they liked woods, you do him a favor by letting him go so he can catch on with another team

Seems obvious
Same reason they didn’t decide on LVE till after the draft
You don’t know what you will get till you get it

I don’t know if jaylons slacked or just isn’t as good as they thought and Dlaw is a huge effort guy thus he is so good against the run
But he’s continued to have nagging injuries

they gave him a tender that he took a while to sign, I'm sure they didn't know then that they were going to get a DT they felt good about. once they got one, he became expendable. based on his history I'm sure he wasn't happy
