I may be alone but I still can’t believe we are moving forward with Jaylon and not LVE

The Jaylon experiment has to end already. I don't think he will ever be that good of a player. But the worst thing is that Jerry has some kind of emotional attachment to him. That's dangerous. Jerry will try to prove to us fans that his right all along no matter what it takes for him to do so .
Jerry probably has an emotional attachment to his toaster oven,, yes its very dangerous,, scary style dangerous

I hope LVE and Jaylon both can turn it around and succeed, but the drafting of Parsons and Cox is clearly sending a very defined message, and not picking up that 5th year didnt surprise you did it?
Me being surprised they didn't pick up that 5th-year option? Of course not! It was a wise business move given the fragile salary cap. Why be on the hook for that $9.1M when you don't have to be. If you are telling me Parsons and Cox can't live in LB harmony with Jaylon and LVE, I'm not buying it.

Quinn is just bringing in his type, Im buying it,, If Parsons and Cox can wake up Jaylon and LVE than we got a really deep LB core for 2021.
A better overall defense that actually allows LBs to roam,,, that hasnt happened for nearly two decades,, Lee was lucky to survive as long as he did, this DL has been putrid for years,, I think we are finally addressing the DL, despite what many think currently.

Quinn has every right to bring in his type, but they aren't going to be pro-ready out of the gate. Jaylon and LVE's jobs are not in jeopardy this year. Next year might be another story for LVE. If he has a great year, the Cowboys might not be able to afford to keep him and if he's bad he's out for sure. He has to be the just-right amount of good to get a reasonable extension after this season.

Jaylon and LVE arent going anywhere, thats why Im talking about 2021, Im not concerned about what happens in 2022 thats just bad for the common fans brain.
Drafting Parson immediately reduced Jaylons snap count,, and he knew it the moment we drafted the starter.

No, Jaylon's well-documented inability to cover reduced Jaylons snap count this coming season. Quinn was going to make that happen whether we drafted Parsons or not. Drafting Cox gives us a coverage guy in the Nickel formation to take those snaps that Jaylon will be losing. Oh, by the way, Parsons won't be a starter, week 1.

If our basic D formation becomes the nickel or a dime packages, that means only 2 LBs will be required on the field.

So, if rookies Parsons and Cox end up performing better than veterans Jaylon Smith and LVE, what do you do with the underachieving veterans? Keep paying them or trade them?

LVE has health issues. Smith has mental issues lol. Releasing Smith would free up $7.2 million in cap space. Probably not released yet due to his contract.

They're all different. Still looking for loop hole. "Watch The Film"

I guess they see it as mindset, motivation, and coaching for Jaylon. LVE’s vertebrae can’t be coached into playing condition.

Man, LVE still has this coming season to prove that he’s worth a new contract in Dallas. The team even said they want him to be there for 5 more years. It’s all up to him.

Smith also has a chance to turn things around. He just has to play better.

They both can bet on themselves.

‘Dallas hasn’t chosen anyone over anyone at this point.
I think having Parsons there will up both their games. His presence should draw attention away from them, while simultaneously making them fight harder. (Okay, that's what I'm hoping for, anyway.)

One has been on the field for over 2,000 snaps the last 2 years and the other hasn’t even been on the field for 1/4 of that. People love to bash Jaylon but the guy never comes off the damn field, let’s see what he can do now that he’ll be able to rest every once in a while..

Lve has his problems but smith is a bigger liability on the field than LVE imo

They both have what is essentially a 1 year audition to turn things around. Jaylon is not cuttable this year b/c of his contract. LVE is not guaranteed a contract in 2022. So, if both play poorly next season, they are both likely gone.

There's also the Jerry factor. Moving on from Jaylon would require Jerry admitting he made a mistake paying him. I'm having trouble remembering the last time Jerry moved on from a mistake.

To tell you the truth, I am ready to move on from both. I would be making calls to teams seeing what I could get for both of them. Neither can cover a RB or TE and neither are worth much blitzing. LVE can't stay healthy and Jaylon excels at number of tackles 5-10 yards past the line of scrimmage.

Jerry likes them so probably stuck with both. They do sell tickets and fans buy their jerseys.
Quitting on them already? They played for Nolan last year. Don’t quit so easy and give them a chance with Quinn.

Will either of these two ever be 100% healthy? Smith hasn't been since they drafted him.

Drafting Parsons sent the message and they both realize their futures as Cowboys depend on this season. They were both the poster boys for a very bad run defense and health can be a reason but a lack or read and react was more the problem.

It was very convenient for several players on this D that all the blame fell on Nolan but I didn't see him blow so many reads and tackle poorly.

One of the things I like about Quinn is his focus on tackling. I remember Wagner, Sherman and Thomas commenting on that when he was there.

Remember our D in 91-94? They could run and tackle and we need that swarming type of D back in Dallas. That was a thing of beauty to watch as they operated as a well oiled machine and a bunch of pack hunters.

One interesting stat about the best DC in the game. Every season, except this last one, Belichick's D's led the NFL in limiting YAC. He was using that catch n carry technique in shorts with his D well before the concussion situation became a thing. There is no secret to his success, he never leaves the basics and fundamentals of the game, blocking and tackling.

Even if they both play well, one of them is probably gone after the season. Just too much money tied up in the position.
