The laundry list of players who missed significant time:

Dak, Jarwin, Tyron, Collins, Martin.

Believe Connor McGovern will get a legitimate shot to unseat Connor Williams.

CeeDee in yr 2, should even get better. Gallup/Schultz are playing for a contract.

Zeke will be highly motivated to have a bounce back season or risk playing elsewhere in 2022.

If they can figure out how to start faster, improve in the red zone and have a defense that builds on getting more takeaways, this offense can potentially be the best in the entire league.

While I 100 percent agree with you....I do sometimes feel I’m cheering for the Dallas “should bes” as it seems we say the same thing every year...just want them to actually do something

Fully agree on McG/CWill.

I think Elliotts 2022 money is already guaranteed.

Jerry got murdered on that structure.

Elliott definitely took his foot off the pedal once he knew he couldn't be cut for four years and had 60 million coming.

I dont at all believe that self pride is any kind of factor for him.

HOF talent who isnt going unless he finds some.

more so about gettin' ZKE back in top fit conditioning, back to quicker 2016 like form again, (to which Garrett regime wanting him to be bulkier) is the utter most step.
also has to do with working with a primary startling OL unit as well as a competent OC that needs to know how to revamp the run game and design-involve the RBs in pass game.

I think my biggest concern with this offense is going to be Dak. I know that sounds crazy, but the mental side of playing football after such an injury can’t be immediately dismissed. He will be protected in camp, do you play him in the preseason? Does he take some time to really feel comfortable sitting in the pocket? What does the first hit to that leg look like? We know what dak can do in this offense, I just hope he can pick back up without missing a beat.

no reason our receivers shouldn’t be better, oline has to be better by default. We could literally lose Tyron for half the year, get 80% of what Collins used to be and still have a much improved unit. Hopefully we can establish stability at the C position. Love the two connors battling it out. I think both can be league average Gs.

It sure what exactly to make of zeke. He seems to be in decline, but also had the deck stacked against him after dak went down last year. If he can fix the fumbles he should improve on his stat line just because of the improved line and teams not stacking the box as much with dak back.

OMG did you just say offense and Dak...

I bet this is going to end up a 10 page thread discussing
2019 record, loss to Philly, inaccuracy, no playoff success, no Superbowls, maybe Dalton for a spot or two, 40M mentioned at least 38 times, not worth it, cant build a defense, cap hit, point in first quarter, points in first half, slow starts, leadership

Did I miss anything on the usual talking points?

I hope all these dreams come true. Of everything you listed, I think Zeke returning to some kind of version of what he was 3 years ago is the most doubtful. And I don’t think motivation is the issue. I just think Zeke is in decline as all RBs who carry a huge load at a young age do.

Going back to his early days at Ohio State, Zeke has had a huge amount of carries and receptions for 7 full seasons. I think he will play better next year if the line is healthy and Tony Pollard has more carries to give Zeke a blow. But the days of Zeke being explosive and a home run threat I’m afraid are over.

The offense should look a lot like the offense that played the first 4 games last season. I don't know where all this optimism about Jarwin comes from. He hasn't really done that much, although there are high expectations for him. I do not think he will do much more than what we got from the TEs last season. They are basically the same offense that went 1-3 to start last season. I also share some concern about Dak. I just hope he is not afraid, or unwilling to run for a first down because of the injury from last season.

And just a reminder, while the Cowboys put up a lot of points and yards in 2020 when Dak played, they also got off to some dreadful starts and played catch-up. They need to stop the bad mistakes in the first quarters of games.

Yeah man, these players work their entire lives to play in the NFL and develop the work ethic it takes to succeed in elite programs like Ohio State and become the 4th player picked in the first round and their entire plan is to quit trying after they get their first contract so they can be known as washed up has-beens after 5 years in the league. They spend their entire lives competing but it's all a sham, they don't care about the game, just that first contract payday. I mean Hell, Zeke may just retire before the season starts.

Our offense depends greatly upon how the OL is able to maintain their health. That's been the missing ingredient for the last several years. Hopefully, they'll recover from their past problems and be able to withstand a longer season reasonably well. If Zeke can return to his best self, that would be a big factor, in itself. The same can be said of Dak. These things must materialize for this offense to return to being highly successful. I imagine the defense will improve but to what extent remains to be seen. Let's hope some good thing combine to offer us an interesting season that lies ahead. :)

Even if Zeke is a 1,200 yd rusher, that is fine. We don't need that 1,800 yd guy anylonger as our passing offense has gotten much better.

I disagree. I don't think Dak is the type to be gun shy...he'll come out swinging. I think the big question mark is Zeke. He goes back and forth between motivated and not... like last year when he was "low-key faded." The question of Dak is how rusty he may or may not be, but to me Zeke is the bigger question mark.

Did I miss anything on the usual talking points?
1A. The meddling owner
1B. The incompetent GM
2. The cheap Exec VP\ CFO \ Director of Player Personnel \ inherit shared owner of the most valued sports franchise worldwide
3. Bad HC hire who rode the coattails of a couple of HOF Qbs - and used that circumstance to bamboozle 1A-B & 2...only to hire a crony as his DC - who is known Ieaguewide as a longtime failure.
4. Elliott extension
5. Jaylon extension
Did I miss anything on my followup?

Starting faster is an easy one. Stop trying so desperately and predictably to establish Zeke running right up the middle. Either mix it up or be more aggressive in the passing game.

And Zeke could stop fumbling. That would help also. As far as the redzone it will be better with a better Oline. And then the same thing. Stop running Zeke predictably up the middle in the redzone.

Zeke at 1200 yards on 300 carries with 6 TD's isnt going to cut it. Now if Pollard is getting more carries and thats why Zeke doesnt have the numbers, then Im fine with that.

Of course it should.

I feel like some have forgotten how injured this team was last year.

And not fringe starters, but some of their very best players.
