We traded #10 for #12 and #82 which I thought was fair value. Certainly not a steal but fair
Why would we trade #10 for #14, #90 and #143?

We'd get an extra pick and may have still got the targeted players. It comes down to, is moving back 4 spots vs 2 worth an additional 2 picks vs 1? It also would have given us an additional pick to use as leverage to move back up in a later round. Lots of scenarios.

The only real advantage I see in even considering the Vikings deal is that you aren't doing business with Philly. I like the 10 for 12 & 82 a lot more. The Cowboys already had a ton of picks, #143 isn't worth dropping 4 spots and the risk of losing Parsons if he is your guy. With that said though I doubt many people would have had an issue with the Cowboys taking that deal either.

We had many picks already and I don't think #90 and #143 is necessarily even better than #82...and that's forgetting it would have meant moving from #12 to #14 and possibly not getting Parsons. No way for me.

I like our trade better too. It's unlikely all our draft picks will make the roster as is.

Dropping two more down would've been risky...

And if we really wanted that extra pick in mid 140s we could just trade down from our pick 82 to 90 or so to get it.

Yeah that is not worth it IMO. To me trading down to 14 wasn't worth it. The only trade down that made sense for this team was a scenario where they could still get Parsons.

If the offer was made, I would have bargained for more. If they wanted Justin Fields bad enough they would have played ball. Even a pick next year: At least kick the tires.

Thank you for moving this:

Pick quantity is nice, but is the difference between 1A and 1B smaller than the added value from #143? That's the risk. Team made the right move.
