I have no issue with those who are critical, I think some go over board with it but whatever. Like you I like seeing reports on players who are looking good, sharp and quick and in shape. As for last season all RB need up front blocking, when you make a 5 yard run with a 1 yard pick up because you are dealing with defenders in the back field that is hard to contend with. I don't agree with you on Moore, again 2019 Zeke was 1,357 yards ranking 4th in the NFL. Last season we saw an OL that was decimated Now as for fumbles I always put that directly on the player, anytime you have the ball in your possession it is your responsibility to protect that ball and Zeke struggled doing that and must improve on it from this past season
And of those 1357 rushing yards in 2019, how many were 20+ yards, much less the 40 yard runs or screen pass plays where Zeke used to be patented home run TD splashers of yester years 2016 .. ?
You don’t draft a RB 4th overall to be a mere pounding workhorse – you want him to be special, unique and bring a higher element and threat to opposing defenses,..
- Yes all RBs do need some kind of at least serviceable help up front, in blocking ..but there’s also a case can be made that great backs with at least that decent OL, can make that OL unit appear
better than what it is, ..
Example, as we saw that with Saquon Barkley his rookie year behind an average Giants OL when he finished 2nd behind Elliott in rushing in 2018,
- And I keep hearing posters bark about he no longer has the 2016 great OL , but if Elliott is indeed a great back, he shouldnt have to have to no.1 picks and pro bowlers packed across the OL ,
for him to be a difference making stand out.
- To some point, it can be the OL, but at some point it can be the RB too, .. as well as the play caller, if hes’ predictable.
Does Kellen Moore even opt to use that patented quick screen pass plays any more than what Linehan use to use with ZKE ?
- All that has been seen with Moore and the RBs particular is Zeke up the middle on sprint- draw plays (instead of deep handoffs ala Derrick henry) or just running up the gut, as ex- RB Gary Brown suggested,.. same formations, and its’ gotten to the point where his run call tendencies are being fished out, sniffed out to where defenses can anticipate predictable plays and jump ahead on
zeke for losses.
- And it's not just ZKE, much less, is Kellen Moore not knowing how to use/utilize a 4.37 speedy pollard in the pass game, . .if Pollard is developed and utilized more, he’d be among the better, more dangerous nickel situational RBs in the game.
But here under the non-creative Moore, Pollard is just gonna as an occasional ball carrying spot backup.
