There is a lot of room between "A division III second stringer would have a better shot making the team" and "he doesn't make the active roster". Ranching didn't indicated he would make the active roster, he was commenting on your suggestion a D-III 2nd teamer would have a better chance.

I don't know if Alarcon will make it or not, I do know that the experience he gained last season and the experience he is gaining this year is important for him as he looks for a career in the NFL

He's 22, 6' 6", 320lbs and helped Mexico to a bronze in the U-19 championships in China.
He was taken in the 3rd round of the CFL Global draft by Calgary.
And one of the big advantages for Dallas is the International Player Exemption for roster status.

Just saw a camp video and looks he's back for another offseason. Interesting prospect. Super raw, but young enough to be able to hang around for a few years and develop.

Be interesting to see how he progresses.

Don't know how it works. But three years sounds right. At the moment there are 20 teams with international players on their practice squads. And some are on their third year. San Francisco just added a teammate of Alarcon, kid named Guiterrez, another offensive lineman who won a championship with him.
