Aikman came out a couple years ago with scathing comments on this . And not much has changed.

Amazing as he nears 80 years of age we still have fans who hope his leadership of Cowboys Football is going to take us back to a Super Bowl.
you hope we dont go to the super bowl?

I tend to disagree I believe Stephen will yield alot of the Power. I dont see being the face of the Cowboys is as important to Stephen. . . I believe the manic control over the team that Jerry maintains stems from His ego over the Jimmy Fiasco.

This need is not as deeply seeded in Stephen. . in every Empire every son that inherits it runs it their way when they gain full control
There will have to be more accountability to the other siblings. That alone should make it different . And why I’d have hope for a more normal ran football franchise and or the possibility for them to sell out.

It's amazing how Cowboy fans forget that 18 out of 32 teams, more than half, have been waiting for a Super Bowl win longer than the Cowboys. They are all trying their hardest to win but each year you have 31 other organizations battling against you. Are the owners of those 18 also inately incompetent?

Jerry is a very likable guy and most of his players love him. Michael Irvin said "He's one of us." I know what he meant by that. He knows how to relate to urban players. The dude got off on Bourbon Street a few years ago partied with the common folks. Like it was said in post #2 by jon van brocklin, "We either make the best of it or jump ship." I choose to make the best of it. He's done a lot for troubled players by giving them 2nd and 3rd chances. Probably because he's a troubled person himself. He just has a lot more money.

Now, when he passes and Stephan takes over, it's going to be different because he doesn't have the charm that Jerry has. It could be better for the team but I don't think so. Jerry once said that Jerry Jr. is just like him but for some reason he's never in front of the camera like Stephan is. Maybe he's behind the scenes with his arm around people giving them a wink and smile that his dad is known for. I know Jerry Jr. is the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. Since he's just like his dad he probably does very well marketing the team with his charm but I would prefer him to be Director of Player Personnel so he can use that charm to bring in players that actually love being a Cowboy like Dak, Zeke and many many others. There's only a few people who has said they didn't like playing for the Cowboys. I'm looking at you David Irving.

I hope and pray he gets another Super Bowl trophy before he leaves to become God's VP of Marketing and Customer Relations up in heaven. Lol :starspin:

But if you bring in the last 25 years when our owner has attempted a different hands on approach then our record doesn’t stand up.

And yes, the others are as incompetent. Does that comfort you?

Amazing we still have some Jethro Jone$ sympathizers.

Buts it’s reminder why this type of thread needs an occasional reboot.

Did you really think there was anything Aikman could say that would change the way Jerry/Stephen run the Cowboys?
Probably not but it still needs to be said so Jethro at least has to address it publicly.

Cowboy fans overall have made the lack of success this era far too easy for our embarrassing ownership.

@Diehardblues Did you not see the thread with the Cowboys having the #3 offense, behind only KC and GB?

Dak and Co. are capable of laying 40-burgers on any defense. Which defense do you have stopping this offense?

If Dak and Co, produce then it is game over, right? Why are you focused on Jerry and not the players?
It's like the Rams game last year just didn't happen isn't it? The only defense we played with a pulse held us to 17 points.

There’s hope the son and siblings will not run Cowboys football like their dad.

There is always hope but I get the impression Stephen is tighter with the money than Jerry. At least Jerry is willing to shell out the big bucks, even if he often goes overboard. I can prove it but I think Stephen is behind the Cowboys philosophy of not signing top free agents.

That’s not what is preventing our franchise with a greater possibility for success.

At least he fired Garrett. I think we can all agree that was a step in the right direction. Even YOU didnt think he was capable.

Or the coaches could do their jobs and players earn their salaries meh

Thats the problem. Jerry has hired idiot coaches like Wade and Garrett to run their football teams and then drafts and resigns dopes like Zeke and Jaylon.
