Hard Knocks is showing what is important to the franchise

Mara and the Giants would do it if it was profitable for them. Doesn't matter what they say. It's easy to refuse it when they haven't been an interesting team since they 80s. They're a boring brand that nobody would want to watch.

Every owner loves every camera, insofar as it is profitable for them.

When is enough enough? Guy has more money than he knows what to do with, is creeping up on 80 years old, and we're still worried about the exposure and cash from HBO? lol When does winning actually become the focal point?

Jerry loves a show, that's obvious, but it still doesn't get old for some? Including the old guy seeking credit for being able to build a winning football team. You're in business to make a profit, I get that, but Jerry takes that to new heights over everything else. Like participating in postseason football. That's real exposure. But I'm sure the old coot is trying his best!!

My point was not that participating in Hard Knocks will have a negative effect on your season. My point is that if you are doing hard Knock it means your franchise is a dumpster fire. I might feel differently if the qualifications were a stable coaching staff and perennial playoff contender.

I love how we are excited to be doing hard knocks even thought he restrictions are as follows:

1. If you have done it in the last 10 years you do not have to do it. This clearly implies that it is not something you want to do.

2. If you have a first year head coach. Again this clearly implies it is not something you want to do. You are terrible and starting over we do not wish this additional pain on you.

3. You were in the playoffs the last 2 years. Yet again this implies that it is not something you want to do if you are a real time that competes for a championship every year.

Yet here we go again the Dallas Cowboys prepare for the show. Is it just me or does everyone else see how this is clearly illustrating what is important to this franchise.

You appear to have forgotten that Jerry won a couple of Super Bowls too, and that's why the brand is so big.

Sports franchise owners are myopic. They invest in the teams to make money. That's it. Winning is secondary because it is just a tool to increase profitability. If HK makes them money, the answer is yes, if it doesn't, the answer is no.

And the Cowboys do that for HBO and the league. Like no other franchise. And why were selected since we qualified .

Good point. It is Hard Knocks for a reason. Major qualifier is can’t have been in playoffs previous 2 seasons.

I used to watch shows on the NFL Network, etc. quite a bit. Because they used to talk about the Cowboys quite a bit.

Now, not so much. Like PFT was spending literally 30 minutes of their 2 hour show EVERY DAY on the Aaron Rodgers situation. Another 20 minutes on Tom Brady. Another 15 on Carson Wentz, Rothlisberger, etc. Not interested in Rodgers and the others enough to watch half the show about them. Nothing changed, yet still they same time spent on them.
NFL Network got so silly, talking about the hosts' favorite food, dressing up in weird clothes, playing stupid "index cards on my forehead" games. Not to mention Kay Adams dropping so much weight she looks anorexic, she used to be so pretty it was an added bonus to see her on the screen. No more. But I digress.

I like my Cowboys. I want to watch any news I can on them. If they are on Hard Knocks, the more I can watch them.

Would I rather they not be on the show? Sure, it's a distraction for a team with tons of distractions and question marks, better for the Cowboys if they weren't on.

But they will be, so I'll watch....

The Cowboys were recently on that Amazon's All or Nothing, the Joneses love the spotlight.

It's NFL Network, not Dallas Cowboys Network. Why would they spend a lot of time talking about the Cowboys these days? Three of the four guys you mentioned are future Hall of Fame QBs (the other is Carson Wentz ) - of course they're going to talk about them. They're not going to spend a lot of time going on about a team coming off 8-8 and 6-10 seasons, even if they are called the Dallas Cowboys. Get back to competing for titles and they'll talk about the Cowboys all day and twice on Sundays.

For now, unfortunately, we'll have to be content with Hard Knocks (I will watch as well). Titles are hard to come by for the 21st century Cowboys.

Heck yes... Jerra doesnt care about anything but money and media hype. Clearly he reads this forum everyday, he might even post in here. I know there is no way Mike is preparing for the season... hes probably having 2-3 meetings a day talking about the HBO show. Dak is likely meeting with his agent as we speak to discuss how he can make a little more money off of the show. Maybe he could even get an HBO commercial. We should be following the Patriots this year and the Patriot way, as tey will clearly be back in the SB hunt this year.
