Tom Landry, basically the flex defense. Then Jimmy Johnson. Basically speed kills. Barry Switzer. Basically let the team do it on their own. I don’t know what Mike McCarthy‘s scheme is. Stronger on the defensive line. Where is the innovation. It’s going to have to come from , Kellen . What do we expect to see different, I’m hoping it’s a wide-open game plan right from the first drive. Catch a lead and then go methodical. Perfect world for me

I don't think of Barry Switzer's buffoonery as innovation. He proved Jerry's point about any of 500 coaches could win a SB with that team.

Unfortunately, Jerry fooled himself into believing that he alone built that team. He's spent the last 25 years with his son proving otherwise.

I don't know that "speed kills" or "let the team do it on their own" really qualify as innovation. Nobody would have denied that faster players are a good thing (assuming speed isn't their only asset).

Jimmy really didn't have an innovative scheme. It was to beat other teams with superior talent, brought on by the Walker trade and getting some big boys with talent on the offensive line.
IMO he did a good job, albeit short, at getting a bunch of egos focused enough to win back to back rings.

Switzer let the guys do whatever they want and their talent and a bad QB lead them to victory in 95.
Then it all fell apart due to Switzer never reigning in the players.

Welp, his going for it on fourth down plays was pretty innovative. Pretty stupid, but also pretty innovative.

the most innovative offense I've ever seen in Dallas was Scott lenohan's 2016 model. Defenses had no clue what was coming.
In Norvell 's offense they new what was coming, but couldn't stop it.
Unfortunately Linehan immediately began transitioning back to his crap base offense in 2017 and it cost him. With Zeke seemingly back to 2016 form and Dak by far better out of the pocket if we add to the 2016 offense we'd be unstoppable with this bunch. Lokks like were going with disruption and speed on defense and with that we could have a special season on our hands.

Full blown FA and Cap had already done its damage to what was left of that Dynasty build.

I think Tom also resurrected the Shotgun formation in modern football….he may also been the first coach to take play calling away from QB ’s ?

No that’s why I said it was the team.

They wont win anything until they dump Zeke and stop kidding themselves that a fat, women beating slob punk like Zeke can lead our football team.

I don't think the Cowboys view him as the leader of the team. I think they just want him to be part of a strong running game. With regard to that, I certainly agree he does not appear to be the player he was when he first entered the league, but I think between him and Pollard, and coupled with a strong passing game, he can be part of an overall quality offense.

Bob Hayes changed the way defenses played for ever 27.89 mph on a cinder track says it all.

Yes he sure did. I think I might have read somewhere that they created zone coverages in the secondary to handle Bob because no one could cover him man-on-man.
