The hype train would explode but then reality sets in and Dallas finishes the season 9-8 missing the playoffs by one game.

I don't think winning or losing this game will make a difference how the season. Not confident we make the playoffs unless the D is significantly better.

I predict alot of our fans will find something to wine and complain about .
I, for one, will definitely be one of the fans finding something to wine

always enjoy a nice couple glasses of sangria before I start to hit the whiskey and cokes

When is the last time Dallas won a road game as a 6.5 point or more dog?

In typical Cowboys fashion, it'll be a close game, and they will lose

Good question.
Will have to look into that

  • First one that came to mind was at Seattle in 2014 (8pt spread).......but that was 7 years ago!
I can't find any since then...not even in 2016.

Won't make a difference, there will still be 16 games left to play.....get too high off the win and lose the next week then your back at square one.....enjoy for 24 hours than move on...

We will be 1-0 and the Cowboyszone will be going crazy! There will be a few negative nancies......but it would be a great week.
But many will become seers - they will look at the schedule (LAC, PHL, CAR, NYG, NE, MIN, DEN, ATL) - then predict & declare Dallas will go undefeated the first half of the season--
9-0!!____before riding into KC-MO to take on the 3X consecutive AFC Champion Chiefs.

It will be a big regular season win. Other than that, it will not necessarily indicate this team’s season trajectory. It’s one game. Fans love to overreact to the season opener either way. This will be a 17 game war complete with highs and lows, difficulties and accomplishments. One game will not define the rest of the season. Win or lose opening night.

I agree 100%, but we all KNOW the overreaction will be epic, either way. If we lose, there’ll be giddy ABD’s everywhere, gleefully SCREAMING “I told you! They suck! Disaster guaranteed! Embarrassment of the NFL! If we win, we’ll get two reactions from the ABD’s: 1)”It’s a fluke! They still suck!” 2)”It’s rigged for ratings! Jerry Jones bought it!” We’ll also get two reactions from fans: 1)”It’s a fluke! They still suck!” 2)”Super Bowl! Dynasty!”

It would mean nothing to me other than that won an away game in what looks like to be a tough environment to kick off the season.

The questions aren't about Dallas as much as Tampa. Do they pick up where they left off or start out slow again? Do the Cowboys win it or the Bucs lose it? Does the SB hangover get them?

It is just one game but what matters to the true contenders is how they look in December, not September.

In 1989, the Cowboys won one game. That game was against the eventual SB champs, the Skins. The rally cry "we beat the SB champs, we beat the SB champs" never rang out.

What will winning that game give us Zoners? The possible one week reprieve of "who has the QB beaten"? I am hopeful but doubtful.

I will be excited of course! At the end of the day, we fans should always want our team to win! Otherwise, you are not a fan in my opinion. Either way though, win or lose, the first game will still not tell us anything about the outlook and/or forecast of the team for the rest of the season........as there are still 16 games to play after the opener.

If the Cowboys would beat TB with TB... , that would make the season verrrrrrrrrryyy interestin' .... i would really be curious how they come out the following week against the Chargers ten days later. Will they come out flat after reading all the press clippings? or will they come out more confident and focused? Prior teams would be the former. Let's hope this team is the latter. Then it would really be something to see.

All the Dakolytes, the Zeke Geeks and the "We're Super Bowl-bound" fans will be out in rare but full form.
They'll be ragging on all da haters, and the haters will either disappear or will take their ridicule like men or girls - whichever is the case.
And then ...
The Cowboys will go on a three-game losing streak and the "Jump the gun" crowd will vanish, while the No-Diggity-No-Dak posse and the Zeke reeks marauders will return to the board on a See-Dak-Attack and a Zeke-and-destroy mission.
And the cycle will continue.
This is the forum's ying and yang.

The defending Super Bowl champs, at home, against a team coming off a 6 win season.

Sounds like a crappy game, eh?

Head to head tie-breaker would be nice, though. :muttley:

What do you think that would do for the 2021 season? Right now the latest line i've seen was Tampa -6.5

:)

The Cowboy hating Dak trolls will be jumping off the cliffs in anger and disappointment no doubt about it.

For the rest of us loyal Cowboy fans it will be an incredible start and hope for the rest of the season.
