It is very strange that he is admitting they were ready to bypass the best defensive player in the draft (Parsons) for a cornerback.

it’s not exactly something to be proud about.

“yeah our talent at cornerback is so bad, we were ready to force a pick at #10 to get one”

Not only bypass... but they actually traded down, risking another NFL team trading up or flat picking Parson for themselves.
i don't think you risk that for a such a coveted guy,..... i just don't buy into what they are selling that .. i wonder if they are saying Parson best defensive ..simply because we drafted him, he's here and all the drooling raves in camp.

Now on my part, there's two elements here:
1) i'm actually more intrigued with what Parsons can give us than what a Surtain or Horn could give us
2) there's something about Kelvin Joseph that makes me optimistic that he'll eventually be right there with Surtain, Horn in the end.

The ones who do usually come off the edge.. If they play him that way then fair enough.

Personally I feel like Parsons would be amazing as a 3-4 OLB

Obviously we don’t run a 3-4. But his talent and abilities are undeniable. They just have to use him right.

They obviously had the corners rated higher...the Parsons line sounds good after the fact. Don't know why JJ has to tell everyone though.

Who cares....in 3 years if one of the corners is a top player at the position, we won't say that. If parsons busts, we won't say that. Drafts are crap shoots.. ..who cares what he said after the fact.

Then go into the season yet again with Smith and LVE and continue to blame the DTs. One gets hurt taking on blocks and the other is simply incapable of it. lol Another corner?.. mind boggling stuff to hear the priorities.

I think it was a reach. I have at least five members rated above CC, on my board.

The jury is out still, though. He's doing ok for a rook. We might have the Tom Brady of mods, blossoming before our eyes.
Your board? :muttley:

Obviously plenty of people care what the thought process is, of the guys running the team.

Obviously you don’t and that’s ok. But you’ll have to forgive the rest of us who like to discuss these things.

Btw, speaking of end results. If Stephen Jones wants to actually accomplish something. Ya know. Build a team that even just makes it to a super bowl. That would be great and a lot of us fans would then cut him some slack. His results have been crap though and he only has his job thanks to daddy.

So forgive some of us for criticizing him.

Btw, this also stone cold mortal lock guarantees that Micah Parsons will be a great All Pro player.

Anytime those idiots can't get their way and have to settle it turns out to be golden.

Micah! Micah! Micah!

Imagine Paxton Lynch right now. On the plus side Garrett would've been gone much sooner.

When you take a lesser rated player on your board you are reaching for that player.

Not counting the edge rushers, LB is less valued than CB. Parsons can be the best defensive player but not the most valuable defensive player.

I still don’t know if I believe all this. If Parsons was their guy they don’t trade away from the pick and risk losing him. This is all Stevie spin to cover for the fact that they got pantsed on draft night

I still don’t understand this mindset.

The only times the cowboys defense has been worth jack squat in the last twenty years has been when the cowboys had great linebacker play.

Yet people think the position doesnt matter.

I'm not missing anything. He was higher rated. He was a better player in the opinion of their scouting department. How much higher rated is completely and totally irrelevant.

Only irrelevant to you because you don't know the true definition of reach.
If a team has 12 players rated in the top12 and chooses one of those 12 players at #12, how would that have been a reach? Humor me with a response.

Despite the ridiculously dysfunctional spewing from our Idiot and Son it supports what many of our beat writers and fans were stating that the CB’s were our target initially.
It means they nailed our biggest need at a premium position. Cb

when that was out they took the best defensive player in the draft. And got a 3rd doing it.

You know how many GMs that are "qualified," haven't been to a super bowl? Wont ever be in a super bowl? And have less success than the Cowboys? There is no science to building and drafting great players. The GMs that look amazing are the ones that hit with a qb? The Chargers gm is about to be considered great.

I was relieved when the top corners were off the board when we picked. The Cowboys have had some terrible luck using their top picks on corners. Rod Hill, Dwayne Goodrich and Mo Claiborne. The rules have made it even more difficult play corner in the NFL. Our defense was bad when Byron Jones was here. Using another top pick on a corner wouldn’t have made our defense much better. A player who can apply pressure like Parsons is going to help our defense more than a corner. We need players who can help stop the run and get to the QB. Improving the play upfront will improve the secondary.

So, he counters his old man's comments after the draft with this? Booger was emphatic that it was Parsons, Parsons was always the guy and invited the questioner to come look at the board as proof.

This is typical BS from Porky, The Lucky Sperm, that if Parsons isn't the guy and one of those CB's shows up, they can play the same card Booger tried to play about Aaron Donald. "We would have taken Aaron Donald".

You have your pick rated as the best D player in the draft, for a team that was awful on defense, but you would have reached for CB's that went ahead of him? I don't think this clown could even afford to buy a ticket if he wasn't getting in with his old man.

You "Stephen's the savior" people better hope he goes toes up before his old man, he's a train wreck looking for a tunnel.

I always wondered if they made the right decision making you a moderator and today I realize that they did.

You read that and come to that conclusion? :) All this time I thought you were a master of sarcasm. Now, I think you actually believe Wentz is an awesome QB.
