If you truly believe that no GM is better than another. I just can’t agree with that.

Some GM’s continuously have their teams in positions to compete. Some don’t.

I don’t agree with the premise that it’s just pure luck. If that were the case. The odds say the cowboys make at least an NFC title game in the last 25 years.
I never said it was luck, but name me 5 gms that fit your description of constantly having their team in the hunt. My response to whomever you name is already written. All 5 of your gms will have something in common, and it won't be their PhD in general management earned from Stanford.

Well then you have a ridiculous argument that shouldn't be taken seriously.

Or you're a Cowboys fans who knows his GM sucks so you pretend they're all the same.

Well what qualifies one to be a "Gm?" John Elway became GM because of his God like status in Denver and his relationship with Pat Bowlen. He had ZERO management experience.

Besides lucking into Manning, what has he done?

So go ahead and name me 5 top current GMs in todays game.

This is not exactly true. Elway was a co-owner with an Arena Football team.

Even in his short period of having the final say in Denver, they got a Super Bowl, which is a lot better than the Joneses have done since the split with Coach Johnson.

that Parsons was their top rated player. I just don’t buy it. I think they wanted a corner and settled for Parsons. In the end it might have been for the best but I just think we are getting lied to

If Parsons were their top-rated defender, they sure took some risk trading down.

You are right, but they wouldn't have gotten anywhere close to the Super Bowl if they didn't luck into Peyton Manning. More and more people see this since Elway has flopped as a GM otherwise.

How was it "luck" with Manning?

They paid for him and outbid other clubs like the Titans, 49ers, Dolphins and Cardinals. That takes some work.

Sometimes being a GM means you spend money to make the bold moves to improve the franchise.

It was a calculated gamble. They knew the Giants wanted DeVonta Smith and they were pissed when we made the deal with Philly. The fact Justin Fields was still on the board opened the door for New York to get a massive trade package from Chicago. Of course, if the Giants took Parsons, Dallas could have traded with the Bears and ended up with an extra 2022 first round pick.....

Five better GMs…there’s actually way more than 5. Reid I’ve shown you this before. You just refuse to believe it. Which is fine. It’s subjective.
Here are 5 great GMs
  • Kevin Colbert- Steelers GM- has been either GM or Director FB operations since 2000. Has won 2 SBs, 3 AFC championships and worked with both Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin.
  • Jason Licht- GM of Buccaneers- won SB last year but also has 2 SB rings with the pats as an Asst director of player personnel. Was the architect of getting most of the great Buc D last yr, without which even with Brady they don’t win the SB.
  • Brett Veach- GM of Chiefs. Two AFC championships and SB ring. Drafted Mahomes, but has also been great at getting FA role players that have greatly contributed like former Cowboy Anthony Hitchens and late round draft picks like Rashad Fenton.
  • Chris Ballard -Colts GM- considered one of the best draft guys in NFL. Colts have built a really good team in short amount of time. Was with the chiefs when they drafted Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill. Was with bears when they won NFC in 2006.
  • Bill Belechick- pats. Don’t even have to say anything else.
Before saying “yeah but Jerry has 3 rings”…yes, but has won 4 playoff games total since 96. Each of the above have won more playoff games in 2 years than Jerry has in 25.

By lucking into Manning, I meant that everybody assumed he would finish his career in Indianapolis, just as Tom Brady leaving New England was once unthinkable. When generational talents at quarterback end up becoming available it is usually the exception, even in today's NFL.

He owned an arena team... so that qualifies him to be a GM? Well Jerry owns an actual NFL team, so does that make him more qualified?

And like I said... Elway lucked in Peyton Manning ... since Peyton has been gone.... Hows Denver looked?

In the 6 NON PEYTON MANNING LED seasons, the Broncos have exactly 1 winning season and 9-7 at that. Dont talk to me about how great he is.... like I said, just another guy, just the same as any other.

The great Steelers GM.... Ben Rothlisberger.... look at how great the steelers are when Big Ben is out.
The great Bucs GM... ZERO playoff appearances in Buc land prior to the GOAT QB showing up. in 6 NON BRADY seasons the bucs finished in LAST PLACE in the division 4 times.... Let me say this again... not a single playoff appearance prior to brady ZERO.
Chiefs... JACK SQUAT until Mahomes showed up.
Colts GM ran teams are 32-32 since taking over with 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd divisional finishes.... yawn. But he drafted a couple of all pro players, so hes a genius.
Billy Boy.... the GOAT left, and he crashed to earth like Ive been saying would happen for years. He still has no qb, and his team is gonna suck arse this year again. No qb makes billy boy just another guy.

Like I said... all the same, just another guy, all great when they strike the QB, all suck arse when they have no QB.

The bucs GM????? Really??? thats horrible... HORRIBLE. IM sure if Winston stuck around, that great D would have still taken them to a title though.... bahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahha

outbid?? You think Peyton Manning went to the Broncos because Elway stepped up and offered more money? Manning went where he wanted to go.... period. Where HE WANTED to go based upon the team that was present. He was playing for another run at a SB, period. Not another big payday.

He thinks everything revolves around HOF QB’s.

The tweet says they had Parsons rated the best defensive player in the draft but they would have taken one of the corners instead.

You clearly don't understand the core Draft concept called positional value.

Now, if Micah can do a lot lined up as edge rusher...then his positional value goes way up.

By the way the Steelers had a winning record without Big Ben the last time he missed the majority of the season.
And if you think it’s all about the QB…how do you explain Eli’s two rings? Was it all about Eli? The 2012 Ravens won a ring with Joe Flacco. The 2017 eagles with Nick Foles. Why hasn’t the great Aaron Rodgers win more than one ring? Or Russel Wilson?

Sure having a great QB is huge. It’s just not everything. And if you think having a good GM is overrated, I can understand why you’re defending Jerry, lol.
