They’d get about the same result. Not worth the time investment and I think the dude is a tool and hard to get along with.

This team needs Dak. We need our 40 million dollar player playing football. If you want a better backup then attempt to draft someone with quality on day 2.
Rosen was drafted day one...two guys currently behind Prescott were "day 3".
Rush - day 4 - UDFA.

I'm not sure when you are entering your 4th season in the NFL you can still fall back on draft status

Still think his draft position matters?

He’s about as good as Gilbert. That’s the reality.
Responded to 'CowboyFrog' re draft position. Rush was a UFDA; three full years with the Cowboys. DiNucci a 7th rounder. And regarding Gilbert - seven previous seasons traversing NFL practice squads - when does it finally click for him?
What harm would it cause to give Rosen a chance?

I'm all for bringing in a veteran if we can find one, but after 4 teams have given up on Rosen I don't have much confidence he is the right guy for the job. He could probably compete with the rag tag bunch of backups we have, but the goal should be to do better than that.

Remember, Rosen promised he'd make the teams pay that passed on him in the draft. I would like to benefit from that.

Did he mean by going to each of them as a backup and then sucking?

See, fans make a life long judgement on a guy by looking at 1 years stat line. And he got his stat line from SA probably because he only had 5 int's last year in 5 games and fumbled only once. THIS is why never take for granted as fact what some here will post.
I was just going to post Dak's turnovers to show certain stats can be misleading. Dak had 4 int's in four games plus a couple fumbles. At that pace it'd be 16 ints and 12 fumbles for the year. In 2019 he had 11 ints 2017 13.

It doesn't mean he was a bad player and the reason we lost. 14 ints in 13 games doesn't scare me unless there is some context provided.

And you are VERY correct...we need to be very cautious when people claim to post facts and stats. You just have to have some cognitive bias control on it.

Six teams gave up on Gilbert in his vagabond career - over 7 seasons.
Cowboys really haven't strived to "do better" re backup QB overall over the last five offseasons.

I personally dont think it matters to much with our current back ups. If Dak goes down, our season is over. Knowing that, Rosen was the 10th pick of the 1st rd a few short years ago. He was thrust into starting as a rookie for a weak team. He has never been in a good position to succeed. If we were able to get him cheap, Id take him in a heart beat.

I didn't say I think Gilbert is the guy either. Again, I'm looking for someone that will be a real upgrade.

I disagree with your statement about not striving to do better though. Dalton was certainly an effort to do that last year, as was drafting Dak as a developmental guy. I think they have actually drafted more QB's the last 5 years than in the previous 20+ years. They've missed on all but Dak, but it is an effort they weren't making before.

Rosen has been on 4 teams in 3 seasons….he’s not fairing much better he’ll he’s on pace to be on more than 6 teams in 7 years lol.

Well that’s what I was wondering….I’m wondering if he’s even as good as Gilbert at this point.

I’ve thought Gilbert has done pretty solid all things considered. It’s not like he’s out there with our best guys.

That ball he dropped into Cedric Wilson the other night was impressive.

He’s got a big arm too and a little bit of mobility not a lot but enough to take what’s there.

Until he just falls apart in a game I’m fine with him.

Dude Was the #1 QB in the nation out of highschool and lost some confidence but I think if he has to play then we’ll get as good of play as we did with Dalton if not a little better.

But.. I may be wrong too and he may crumble when the lights come on. I’d just rather go with him over Rosen.
