2021 expectations offense and defense

I'll be honest....I think we all sort of assume the offense will be top 5.....I have a strong feeling we are going to feel better about this defense than we are the offense by season's end........

Like you, I'm leaning towards a good feeling about this defense. Between Dan Quinn and some of our new defensive talent I think our defense is better now than last year, and will continue getting better as the season progresses and our rookies gain experience.
The offense? I'm thinking top 10 but hoping top 5.

I'm expecting rookies to get beat but removing blown assignments and being more aggressive at the LOS should make us much more competitive.

I agree. I don’t think it’s going to be drastic I think the offense will still be top 10 but I think the defense may over achieve. I guess I’m buying into Quinn lol.

What I think will happen
Offense - top 10
Defense - top 20
concerns: Concerned about K. Moore/not sure he can handle the expectations of this unit. Also worried about the health of the OL for a full season
I also seem to have much more confidence in Quinn that any other coach on this staff, fat mike included.

Rightly concerned, unless the play calling is consistently better in the red-zone, moving the ball will not matter. Moore hasn’t demonstrated that , he gets too cute and muffles.

As I have been harping the how the OL goes the offense will go. Better OL and consistency in QB will be better for Offense. We do have weapons .

Defense after last year only way is up, if they can be decent against the run, ( Osa, Urban , Parsons shall help ) that will at least make the other teams work at moving the ball and score. Hopefully the injury bug which bit us so bad last year will be a bit shy this year.

Offense will have top 2 rushing attack (o-line health ) and be top 2 in effeciency (think points per drive here)
Defense will finish top 15 in scoring and takeaways (offense helps with ball control here)

Biggest myths...3 1k yard recievers...no..if this happens something has gone horribly wrong (probably on the defense or o-line)
Biggest suprise Dak will be the most effeceint passer in the league...think 2016 but he is much better at deep throws now. PA will go deep. He will not need 5k passing yards to impress though as we grind on teams and then head shot them.

Biggest Damn pay that guy ---RG will have a big year think like 12+ sacks..with Tank and RG on bpoth sides every game RG will get home alot on passing situations...

DROY...Parson he will play a huge role in this defense having a great takeaway year.

Yup you know it...once all these things come on line NFCCG this year mark it down....

So, you don't think it's important how a team performs against the teams it might face in the playoffs? What teams are those "x number of games" going to be against?

And I have miles of posts that say you are wrong about posters caring who this team beats. That has been the whole base for the argument against the QB, how he performs against the true contenders.

Exactamundo.....if the team gets into the playoffs they are not gonna face the Jags, Panthers, Bears, or any other mediocre team they may have beaten already. That's a recipe for the one and done scenario. And beating playoff caliber teams show you are playoff caliber and worthy. So it does matter who you beat, it shows who you are.

Yeah I agree man….I hope the offense is the best in the league. But I honestly feel like in order for us to win it’s going to have to be a more balanced attack and that may result in less gaudy numbers.

Yeah, the team’s record would probably be better IMO, if they were say, 8th on offense and 9th on Defense… instead of something like 3rd offense and 16th defense.

Since other posters understood I'll break it down for you.

So when I say I think we will feel better about the defense than the offense....that means the defense won't be nearly as bad as last year but the offense won't be as high as it was last year.

To break it down even further for you.....

I can see the defense being top 15 and us feeling GREAT about that. I could see the offense being top 10 and feeling good about that.

Now is there anything else I can help you with?
