Sorry. We said it at the time (I say "we" because so many of us said it). 4th and 6th, 1:42 left, you HAVE to try for the first down instead of kicking a FG. Some of you will counter with, "well, that's what the defense is paid to do, make a stop late in the game, with a lead." Sure. That works against Tom Brady as much as it did against Aaron Rodgers a few years back in the playoffs.

A first down there should have put the Cowboys in better FG range while bleeding the clock. Sometimes you've gotta make that unconventional call, especially when going up against the GOAT. Had they not made the first down? Not mad...how could we be? We knew Brady would bring them back anyway.

Every coach in the NFL kicks that FG.

If you are calculating that Brady with a min or so of time left can get in field goal range , then yes go for it. (I would have gone for it if i was HC)

Given how the pass rush was rusty or work in progress.

MMC will explain why he didnt at some point to the press.
We are making progress as a team though.

While I agree in theory, the problem is that the refs made it clear that Brady was going to get the ball back. They were saying "Take the FG or else"

I can't blame them, especially after TWO holding penalties on that drive.

The fact we even got that close was a small miracle.

Then if they call the OPI like they probably should have, going for the FG could have been the winning call.

Oh well. On to the Chargers.

4th and 1 or inches maybe but 6 yards to go. No way. I had said last week all you could hope for was to get the ball last with chance for the win and not give Brady the ball against our D. That is what happened.

Not wrong, but I think MM would have been roasted more if they didn't make it. Then again, would have been SUPER roasted if Zurlein missed he kick.

I don't see how he could be roasted any more or less. Raise your hand if your really felt this D would make a stop in that point of the game. Not *any* point of the game, like getting that fumble in the EZ. I mean THAT POINT of the game, with the GOAT going for yet another GW drove. It's almost as if TB was relieved we went for the FG.

Even relieved we made the FG.

I agree with all of that. I didn't think there was a chance in he'll that Brady wasn't going to get them in FG range.
