Dallas Cowboys: The best replacement for Michael Gallup is...

In Week one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the Dallas Cowboys saw their biggest offensive advantage take a shot to the gut when receiver Michael Gallup fell to injury. Gallup, the third piece in what is arguably the NFL’s best WR trio, is expected to be out for the next 3-5 weeks, leaving a hole in the Cowboys line-up and Kellen Moore searching for answers.

Cedrick Wilson, the Dallas Cowboys highly paid WR4, is the obvious solution. He came in for Gallup on Thursday night, and performed admirably in Gallup’s stead. But “next man up” may not be the best solution. The best solution may require a more nuanced approach.

The Dallas Cowboys should replace Michael Gallup with a combination of Blake Jarwin and Cedrick Wilson.
Simply plugging Wilson into Gallup’s top-3 role may be the easiest solution, but it’s not the most optimal.

Wrong..

Noah Brown is the guy and I bet that is how it will eventually play out.

Watch out for a Noah Brown breakout at some point over this next month.

Brown is the guy I'd like to see but Wilson it the most similar to Gallup among the guys left.. He's also more of a stretch the field threat which I think Moore favors. The thing about Brown is he brings that big body over the middle guy we so badly need. Especially in the red zone.. I'm rooting for him to go nuts so they can't send him back to just blocking duty and coverage teams forever.

It looks like they want to take Lamb out of the slot and put him at the X where Gallup plays.

Brown has looked really good in the slot in his limited time.

So if they want to kick Lamb out wide it makes more sense to me to put Brown in the slot.

I think Brown has a breakout game soon. I like Wilson but I think Brown has potential to be a NFL starter.

I like both.

I have heard that Brown and Dak are best buds though. So there may also be a comfort level there.

I'm fine with either Wilson or Brown. It appeared Wilson was the guy the Cowboys have in mind, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Brown see some of those snaps as well

I think you meant Wilson and Dak. Wilson has been reported to have stayed at Dak's house in the offseason so they could roll out of bed and work... Their rapport is legendary. And Wilson was on pace for about a 700 yard season last year before Dak went down.

Gallup being gone will only hurt if Cooper and Lamb don’t step up. Need a deep threat.

It may be both. But I definitely meant Brown.
