Martin not playing Tackle just proves the coaches don’t get it

I'm more in line with shoring up the middle and not letting the pressure come from there. We can move Dak around and chip w/ TE to keep him clean since it's coming from his right side. Pressure up the middle - just like from his blind side is a drive killer.

There is no logical explanation to not play Martin at Tackle over this 5 game stretch.

Martin has the ability to play Tackle at a high level and you are purposely making yourself worse for whatever reason.

If Dallas can’t figure this out then we got coaching problems still. Martin shouldn’t have a say in this either. He’s paid to do a job and it’s not a permanent switch. It’s a short term solution that fixes a big problem.

This is a clear obvious move and if anything happens because of our right tackle it’s 100% on the decision makers who saw the obvious thing to do and ignored it.
there was a rumor that martin was so hot about playing tackle...not sure if the coaches caved into that. but I am with you...its about the best 5 combination and martin and mcgovern give us the best 5 on the field.

For Knight, I assume the grade includes when he was at LT last year?

Agreed Martin must step and play the RT spot. Coaches need to be able to speak to him and explain it is best for the team.

Didn't our OL stabilize somewhat last year when we finally moved Martin to RT?

Martin at RT with the Conners at OG is still a quality line

From my arm chair position, I don't agree. Strangely, the coaching staff doesn't return my calls.

Frederick should come out of retirement. He was still pretty good even after Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Is it best for the team if he goes down?

Last season he had his first major injury--playing RT.

I believe this is where that risk/reward call must be made by the big decision makers. Even if it takes a sit down behind closed doors with Philbin and McCarthy with Zack looking him in the eye and telling him "they need him and the team needs him."

Heck, Grandpa Jerry could slip in the door and give old Zack a wink and a hug and an under the table stack of hundreds for all I care.

I'm not an oline coach or scout. But I probably watch what is considered a lil bit of film.

And to my amateur eyes I feel strongly that Nyseske and Steele are NOT ready for defensive starters for a whole game.

Martin didn't play last week, McGovern should remain at right guard and Martin moves out to tackle.....you're going to tell me Steele and Nsekhe is a better option than Martin at tackle? Play the best starting five, that's Martin at right tackle and McGovern at guard
Martin is a WAY better guard than RT, I'm not ripping off a band-aid to just put it somewhere else. We also have Williams who's played Tackle. I'd shift McGovern to LG before I moved Martin to RT.

I get they want the interior solid so teams do not blow up the pocket but do we not remember the Green fiasco at tackle in Atlanta…

Not seeing these backup tackles as much better…time will tell.

If Steele starts at RT and Bosa deals Dak a severe injury by bull rushing the crap out of Steele... McBurgers and Goodell need to die miserable deaths.

If Zack Martin doesn't want to play it he doesn't want to play it. He's a guard. They feel more comfortable running behind Zack Martin at guard than they do McGovern. I know people are gushing over how McGovern played but at the end of the day our run blocking wasn't what its suppose to be like when Martin is out there.

Another reason I wish we had a hog TE that can run/pass block.

I don't know anything about coaching but I would think schematically you can compensate for a weakness at the end position more so than you can up the middle. Last year we kicked Martin out to end but we were down both starting tackles. Schematically you can use the RB, Fullback and Tightends to cover a weakness at end and run plays away from that side of the field.
Weakness up the middle is harder to contain.

If Martin isn't the RT on Sunday you can just add that to the long list of completely idiotic things this front office has done over the years. You have 5 quality OL available right now and a giant drop off after that. To play one of those JAGs instead defies all logic.

Probably because they don't believe in moving a player from a position he's one of the best ever at, weakening that position, to play him somewhere he has very little experience.

I dont have a problem with this move. You have backup OTs for a reason. This is no time for musical chairs.

What gives us a better unit on the field on Sunday?

It’s an easy decision.

I’ll defer to the coaches on this one. My order would be:
Plan A - Steele
Plan B - Nsehke
Plan C - Farniok/Knight
Plan D - Martin to OT.

I also might rotate Steele and Nsehke to keep the big guys fresh.

Bosa is next, If Dak goes down for an extended period..we are done. So A,B,C need to inches in rope for working or not working.

I fully agree.

On the flip side, you have backup tackles for a reason. So, I dunno.....

I'm fully confident that we are a worse team with Nseke or whatever his name is or Steele at RT and McGovern on the bench, but it's not gonna happen otherwise.

They both looked clueless in the preseason.

I've seriously seen countless examples of fans being right over these Jerry picked coaching staffs in the past.....and not in hindsight.

Was hoping beyond hope that we may have been past that as well as some other things.....then I read today's news.
