I don’t fail to realize that. I’m saying make paying Pollard the priority. If Zeke wants to stay then by al means stay but he makes enough money to pay 2 good RBs.

Zeke was never explosive. In 2016 the holes were so big that he looked better than he was. Zeke is a good back but he isnt what he used to be and neither is the line. Moore is doing the obvious thing. Thank heavens Garrett is gone.

Zeke was very explosive in 2016. Yes, the o-line was incredible but he was a threat to take it to the house on any given play.

The OP is right. Zeke has lost a lot of explosiveness compared to his rookie year. I don't know why he declined so quickly.

The thing that gets missed in all the Zeke slander is that until proven otherwise he comes into every game as the guy the opposing defense is keyed in on. Pollard just doesn't command the kind of attention that Zeke does.. This is not a luxury Zeke will ever enjoy. Still you have to give Pollard credit for how quickly he sees the hole and hits it. On his longest run he hits that gap between Martin and Steele at 100 mph. Then on the second longest the defense collapses down and he sees it and sprints to the corner. The DB clearly misjudges his speed and takes a horrible angle which allows Pollard to outrun him to the corner then to add insult to injury the same dude misses the tackle and Pollard stumbles for 5-6 extra yards. Great vision and acceleration by Pollard. I do wish we would do a little less of the stupid shotgun run nonsense. Zeke is a downhill runner and we seem to have decided never to use him that way.. It's great that we have Pollard to make plays out of this shotgun look because it's never going to suit Zeke..

even though he’s the lightest in years and he’s never been hurt? He’s clearly in fantastic shape and worked hard in the offseason.

I don’t know I thought he had a great run down the left side lines in the first quarter.

Zeke isn't the young, productive RB that he was as a rookie but he's still a powerful RB that gets better than average yardage in the middle. I wouldn't be too surprised if the Cowboys draft a RB at some point in the next draft, though. Their highest priority is likely to be at the RT spot, since La'el Collins has been experiencing a variety of injuries, of late. Of course, the defensive secondary needs at CB will demand attention, also.

I think the Cowboys were one of the few teams his agent would have been comfortable holding out with two years left which was unheard of at that point. But the Cowboys have the rep for cratering to stars.

Elliott is still a good RB but he is not a top RB that could command top dollar. He knew he was beginning to decline with all the contact and was more than aware of how the Cowboys ran Murray's legs off him in his last season. And he wasn't really an explosive back but one with good speed and great vision and a great OL. Just like he had in college.

He did what any smart player should do, use the leverage when he has it. And Elliott is a smart player.

I think he's probably been fond of the partying life too long and it's catching up with him. He worked hard in the offseason, thank goodness.
