10 things I think I think entering week 3

1. I think Dallas made another way to laugh at all of Draftnik nation once again with Micah Parsons. So many hate off-ball LB but one could argue Parsons just played a better DE game than any game DeMarcus Ware had as a rookie. This is example Infinity of how often teams get it right and fans get it wrong. But Randy Moss and TJ Watt will live on forever anyway.

2. I think Dallas can really draft. The young guns of late that have been drafted highly are impactful and improving. Lamb, Parsons, Diggs were noticeable on that field.

3. I think Dak has proven he can take some big shots post injury.

4. I think Tony Pollard has a wonderful game. With the scheme LAC played he was able to get to space and gain big yards. Really impressive quickness and a commitment to plays we need.

5. I think Zeke had a very good game as well. 97 yards on 18 touches with some timely assist again in the blocking game. He is the inside the tackles guy at this point. And he and TP compliment each other very well.

6. I think that was a low key monster win. LAC is a good young team and Dallas has plenty of talent but you remove DLAW, Gregory, La'eL, Gallimore and your 2nd round pick and man that talent takes a major hit. This game was a big one to win with some softer foes to outclass coming up.

7. I think Dallas should win each of the next 3 games. Philly, Carolina, NYG. Those teams have major talent deficits to overcome.

8. I think Monday night games are among my least favorite. Older get the more I shift to old man sleeping patterns and starting off a work week with a lack of sleep on Monday night is just gross.

9. I think fans obsession with Jaylon Smith is just borderline creepy at this point. He's absolutely overpaid but the constant need to rag on or even discuss the guy is just stalkerish. Let that dude live and move on. When the D is healthy he'll largely be on the bench.

10. I think we are easing into my favorite time of the year. Football is back and NBA is on it's way. Temp on the back patio is amenable to grilling and lounging.
Agree except for #7.

Not that it won't happen, but one thing this team doesn't need is to get ahead of itself and look at games as definite wins.

Slow down Grasshopper. "Parsons just played a better DE game than any game DeMarcus Ware had as a rookie."

DW had 8 sacks as a Rookie. Lets see how this plays out before we start comparing Parsons to a Hall of Fame linebacker. You could be right, but time will tell.

PS. I agree with the rest of your post. I do think Carolina is going to be a tough game. Their QB beat us when he played for the Jets for goodness sakes and he has a much better team in Carolina then he had there.
I will agree about Parsons, most of his film on him is from college as a traditional LB, and he was going against back UP RT all day. The more he plays at DE the more teams will get his tendencies and moves that are his go to. Also as he gets more confidence teams will see his over commitment to penetrate anyway he can could also be exploited.

What we saw this week was a complete TEAM win......not a Qb putting up yards and not finishing
if the QB has to do it all by himself, all the time, its difficult to win many games. you can keep it close perhaps, but need the rest to step up. this week defense stepped up. last week, they couldn't make a stop with a minute to go. they gave up three big plays, not just one. last week we rushed for 60 and only attempted 18. putting the game all on one player. last week players made stupid plays. this week we played smarter.

1) Our team got it wrong! They got Parsons by default really. Many of the fans got it right
2) Not convinced on that yet

5) True-but was it a good move to covert his salary to bonus?

Carolina, is playing pretty well actually.

Yes, they shut down Kamara totally - 8 carries for 5 yards, and one of the carries was 5 yards, so he had otherwise 7 carries for ZERO yards.

Saints were missing 6 coaches, but Kamara's been there for years, shouldn't need coaches to tell him how to run. Thought Payton was this great offensive guru, is he really or does he surround himself with great assistant coaches?...

True but I am not the team. just a guy with a keyboard., Pretty safe for me to look ahead.
But this is a week to week league and it doesn't mean that much.
Still I'd rather be facing these 3 teams than the Bucs and Chiefs.

I think I agree with you, but I think Jaylon will be much better in the scheme than he was last year. I hope!!!

Yep, can't even begin to overlook any team.

IMO Carolina will be tough. I think the 2020 performance is in the minds of everybody when evaluating their next foe and this is just stinkin thinkin. I'm sure Tampon Bay had the 2020 Cowboy's defensive image in their collective minds when we played and it was halftime before they could make a mindset adjustment.

No game is easy . . . none of 'em. Grandma always said don't count your chickens before they hatch. Carolina is balanced! All that said all of the next 3 games are winnable. Hell, all our games are winnable, even KC. We just have to be focused, intense, and get after it each game. I've already seen that our gameplanning seems to have taken a step up in quality and that is encouraging.

I agree with your original post though @jterrell! Good summation!

1: They didn't get Parsons by default imo.
He was their highest graded defender and they were simply going to select CB over him if given the option.
And as CB is arguably their worst position on this team it's hard to argue they were wrong in that viewpoint.
While they've had some high profile misses the team's approach and overall drafting have been very good for a while now.

5: It was neither good nor bad. Any money saved can be added to next year's cap via rollover so it;s pretty much a neutral type move that simply kicks costs down the lien after the new TV deals. Not super savvy or anything but not bad either.
They can't realistically cut Zeke for 2 years. And in 2 years they can push his dead money off into year 3.

7: Fair take and given the injury status that's probably very realistic but in afterglow of a win over a pretty good Chargers team on the road gimme all 3.

Nice post. Jaylon actually didn't look bad to me. He made a couple nice plays. He's been better this year. Hopefully he continues to improve off a terrible 2020.

It is hopeful he can be better this year but it probably doesn't matter long term.
Dallas is very likely going to release him next year.

He has looked better largely because Quinn is a much better DQ than the prior guy. He isn't asking Jaylon to play hero ball.
Team shored up LB speed around Jaylon and added plus safety play to mix.

I find it amusing how many people look at two games where we kicked a go-ahead FG inside two minutes and see them as so different that it completely validates all their preconceived notions about how we should play offense.

The last second field goal was merely the product of being in a close game because we had a Balanced offense this week.....if we had the Dakota Air show we would left Herbert plenty of time to pile points on this defense

We are ranked 25th in Red Zone TD’s this short season which happen so to be the same as last year. It’s imperative that TDS are scored in Red Zone situations

Injuries are piling up, Cooper now might miss this week. Let's hope a few start to return in the coming weeks.

I've never been so embarrassed by a defense than this one led by the constantly confused Jaylon Smith.
No play, no class, no nothing. What a clown. SMH.
