Here's what I want to know: Why is it that whenever we think we need an upgrade on D, a pile of posters chime in wanting to trade for a CB? No matter the situation, no matter who we already have, it's always wanting to trade for a CB. We could have Jalen Ramsey, Xavien Howard, and Jaire Alexander starting w/ Lattimore and Tre'Davius backing them up, and people would still be clamouring for another Corner. What's up w/ this extreme obsessions w/ CB's?

I would love to have a stud DE but we need to find him in the draft ..... You rarely get good value in trades. (Coop being a very big exception)

I wonder what the Bears would want for Mack once they are 1-7 and realize they need a full rebuild. I have no idea how to gage trade markets or anything but another big play maker like him out there with Parsons, Lawrence & Diggs would be so awesome.

Man that would be an all in move. We can dream. Having him back there with Gregory, Dlaw, Parsons and Osa sounds amazing.

POST-6/1 TRADE
2021 Dead Cap: $12,600,000
2022 Dead Cap: $24,000,000
2021 Cap Savings: $2,046,000

Don’t get your hopes up.
;)

Never considered it a reality. Would be money well spent if we could make it happen though.

Right. Just like I offered to you. You’re on record that the coaches are going to cost the Cowboys a chance at a championship. After game 3 when the Cowboys are 2-1 without 5 starters on defense and should be 3-0 but for an inconsistent kicker. So you’re going to go through the rest of the 14 games in the belief that the Cowboys have no chance because of the coaching. That my friend, is sad.
Of course, I'm on record. If I didn't want to be on record, I wouldn't have said it. Duh!
But like all things and all people, I'm not infallible. I merely make observations and offer predictions, like we all do.
Some of us, however, aren't as uptight about it as others are.

Ophiocordyceps cornerbackis. It's a pathogen fungus. It alters the behavioral patterns of the infected fan. Creating the illusion that the line of scrimmage doesn't matter, games are won or lost out on the edges and a stockpiling of cornerbacks is our only option.

If you ever see a fan with a mushroom starting to emerge from his head get the hell away from him before you end up wanting to give Anthony Brown a 3rd contract.

We can’t. We can’t afford to pay attention right now.

Hard for me to believe the cap isn't open to further manipulation. I've watched Philly and the Rams do it for years without consequence.

Some? Sure. But those teams also didn’t rework all of their contracts making them stuck in them either.

We’ve got several players among the highest-paid at their respective positions. And most, if not all of those deals have already been restructured at least once.

And as for Philly in particular, I noticed some ‘consequences’ Monday night.

Yet every year the cap goes up. It's an exaggeration to say we can't make a move. When we start losing players we actually want to retain I'll buy in. That or when someone like AdamJt tells me we are screwed. Until then I'm not overly concerned.

In any event it's silly to argue over a hypothetical signing which we both know damn well isn't going to happen in any universe, cap or no cap.

Exactly. Some of us have looked ahead and seen the cap situation and pending free agents next year.

I get the cap argument but the very fact the Cowboys may lose players next year (and I think we'd have a hard time replacing them any time soon, let alone improving other positions) is the very reason I posited this question.

Quinnen Williams?

He was rumored to be on the block last season. It would be a heavy price and he needs to be signed so he is probably not a real option. Hell, La'el Collins might be of interest to the Jets. Not that I want to move Collins, but Steele has been great.

Yeah its rearing its ugly head with the mistakes Howie Roseman has been doing. From failure 1st and 2nd round picks to high paid guys who are old and can't stay healthy.

I like Collins but if someone wants to give us a defensive playmaker for him? They can have him lol.

hope not

i dont see why they would go all in this season after they just sign their franchise qb. cowboys window = dak now not any have to win now. plus franchise qb contract make cost controll draft picks even more important.

keep ur picks, keep hitting like micah and trevon.
And you couldn’t anyway
We don’t have the cap room to trade for a Mack contract
And next year you’d be done because we are already over the cap for next year
The only teams who could do something like that is those with a ton of cap space

So generally speaking I don't like the idea of trading picks for players. The Cooper trade did work in our favor though.

I wasn't keen on some of the trade possibilities people were tossing around during preseason, but now I'm coming around because:

1. the Cowboys are almost certainly headed to the playoffs.

2. the Cowboys are almost certainly not as good as the Bucs or the Rams.

Sure I believe the Cowboys can beat either of them, but IMO those two teams (and maybe GB, but I haven't seen enough of them to be sure) are better. However I don't think the Cowboys are that far off.

I think if I were in the FO I'd seriously consider trading for an elite defensive player, assuming there's one to be had. I don't know if I'd want to part with more than a 1st and a 2nd but given the possibility of losing guys like Gallup to free agency I'm willing to part with some future draft capital to improve the defense, even if it means only a short term (1 or 2 year) rental of a great player.

Let us have a good draft next year and then have a look see. Right now this team is not one player away from a title shot.

So no i dont like the idea of trading draft capital for a Vet that may play 1 season here.

No…we need our 1st for a lineman…Collins may be cut and Williams isn’t good enough. Center is also a concern.
Williams is a FA next year
Biadasz is basically a rookie
You don’t give up on a player after 7 games in his career
