Um….don’t get that. He’s been a decidedly average NFL linebacker this year playing a lower number of snaps. You already owe him all his money this season and you’re not going to get anyone better off the street.

Just seems like a pointless move that only hurts depth

Yeah totally agree. I felt he was playing a bit better this year too. Odd considering the restructure and decision to not move on from him before March. I guess the coaches watched some film and didn't like what they saw.

These are my thoughts. You have Neal, LVE (who stinks) and Parsons. Depth is pretty thin
You're forgetting, we have Jabril Cox and Luke Gifford. Also, Francis Bernard could possibly be brought back from IR if he's on temporary IR.

I won't doubt if the Cowboys start searching for a late round LB trade. Or, they can try to steal another LB off of another team's Practice Squad. Either way, it would be much cheaper this way than having to keep the overrated and way overpaid Jaylon Smith.

Bye! Glad the Cowboys finally made a tough but needed decision.

Yep, think it's time for Jabril to move up... maybe past LVE.
what the hell have we seen from Cox that makes you think he is an improvement over anyone. How many snaps per game has cox even gotten? How many tackles does he have?

I beg to differ. There are better linebackers on the street right now. This move suggests that. I’m guessing they like one of the practice squad players more. All Jaylon did was steal reps, honestly. If anything, I bet the staff regrets not doing this sooner. This should have happened in the off-season.

Breaking news- Jaylon signs with NY, will start vs Dallas.

Lol I kid, don't get me benched JoeKing.

Wonder where he ends up? Someone will take the bait. Let's hope it's not the Pats. BB supposedly wanted him in 2016. I dont ever want our released players going to him. Kills my confidence.

Anyone looking at tape would never sign this guy.

once again, big mike does NOTHING without someone above him signing off on the deal. But we know nobody will give him any praise.

The guys who gave Jaylon the awful contract in the first place? No they don’t get praise.

There had to be some kind of falling out with management over playing time.

If they wanted to cut him they would’ve done it long ago.
It could have been they were unsure of what they had with the other LBs (Neal, Cox, LVE, Parsons, ect...) and/or they found out absolutely no team would trade for him.

Maybe we will find out, maybe we won't.

It really is. If there was doubt, they should never have guardians 2021 salary in March.

True. I'm guessing the new coordinator came in and knew his pedigree and how poorly his last coach ran the defense. Then he wanted to see if he could coach him back to being a player before cutting ties. I think that's understandable. Especially considering his character and leadership role on the team. Probably just wanted to see if he could save him.
