Um….don’t get that. He’s been a decidedly average NFL linebacker this year playing a lower number of snaps. You already owe him all his money this season and you’re not going to get anyone better off the street.

Just seems like a pointless move that only hurts depth

Because he is the WORST linebacker on the team. Not only that but he is a total clown. He represents the past and we need to go into the future. Its like some dork that sucks acting like he is the leader of the football team. Get him the hell outta here.

I beg to differ. There are better linebackers on the street right now. This move suggests that. I’m guessing they like one of the practice squad players more. All Jaylon did was steal reps, honestly. If anything, I bet the staff regrets not doing this sooner. This should have happened in the off-season.

Cant have some fake leader like that mucking up the chemistry.

Under Merinelli both Vander Esch and Smith looked like future stars in this league. Last year they both were just completely out of the game psychologically. I guess they are just gonna let LVE play out the rest of the contract and let him go too. The Mike Nolan hire has proven to be a complete disaster overall.

This is fantastic news and that roster spot will go to someone more deserving!

What I don't understand is, why say he was a progress stopper for Cox, when you weren't playing Cox that much?

LVE, has not been jumping off the screen, so they may have plans of bringing in someone else. LVE, cannot run with RB's, TE's and shallow receivers.

It's sad if true. To have been that good in college with so much potential, to get such a devastating injury in the last game of an incredible college career, to see a glimpse of success and what could be, to have been so close to recovered but hurt just enough to lose a precious NFL step.....it's like a tease. He's got to be devastated.

But worse.....to have people who call themselves Cowboy fans insult your dedication, personality, and physical struggle, to use those kind of words to describe Jaylon Smith, to incur hatred simply by giving everything he had to realize a life long dream.....it's sad.

His attitude wasn’t right regardless.

Anyone looking at tape would never sign this guy.

You would think, but I'm wagering he gets signed somewhere.

He put out better tape this year too. He can be depth. The question is what role will he accept.

He wasn’t
I wanted to move on after the season
Just don’t get the point of releasing him since you have to pay him and he’s still better depth than who you could sign off the street
Sounds like he may have been causing locker room issues.
