The reaction from the average fans is hilarious. A lot of people thought Jaylon was a good LB and they can't believe it. These are the same fans that Jerry has suckered for the last 25 years

I disagree. Most of the fans knew Jaylon was terrible and have wanted him gone. You get a handful that think he is quality.

This move was all about the 2022 guaranteed contract than anything else. The longer the Cowboys kept Smith around, the bigger the chance he would get hurt and there goes all that money.

With Parsons proving to be the real deal, LVE playing "better" (though not great), and with Neal coming back this week this was as good a chance the Cowboys would ever have of washing their hands of that deal.

And again he was in the middle of the huddle trying to fire up the team during the pregame activities of the Panthers game... this time w/o a mic. Did his release come out of the blue for Jaylon or did he have some warning? The Cowboys were trying to trade him but got no takers so as to not be responsible for his contract in 2022 if he gets injured, they just let him go. A move that confirms his contribution to the team was no longer outweighing the burden of his contract. In layman terms, the turd got flushed.

You have to be worse than bad for someone to cut you after paying so much for your services.

One interesting positive side effect of this move. If you worry about the team eating the cheese this week, this sort of move will focus them real quick. It shows that there is actual accountability for your play, no matter what your salary or tenure is. That's good to see from a team building standpoint.
