Damn the Bills???!! Wow I would’ve never thought.
Well, they shut out two of their last three opponents and racked up 11 takeaways in those three games. They haven't given up 300 yards in a game yet (obviously that will change tonight). Yeah, they played weak opponents, but they shut out the Texans, held them to 100 yards and took the ball away 5 times...and that Houston offense gave the Patriots everything they could handle today.

How about we get everyone back, and allow them to play together for a few games before we start picking apart this defense.

This is a great point. They’re still playing without DLaw, Gallimore, Wilson (though in fairness, I like Kearse better)

This defense is good and getting better, with more confidence in every game. As Quinn starts to trust Diggs and Brown more, I think he’ll bring the heat more often.

One unrelated thing I want to add here is that Parsons has looked much better at DE than LB. I’d rather play him there - he was disrupting game plans. Too often as a LB he just ends up falling back into coverage, which takes him out of his strengths.

-Being able to rush the passer with only 4-5 guys. Being able to rotate Gregory… parsons and dlaw on passing downs.

-having playmakers out there (parsons and diggs).

-having complementary players and other young guys with potential.

Is the d perfect? No…. But being middle of the pack and a defense that makes splash plays is all we need in my opinion. Especially when you have a quality offense like we do.

We've played two "potential playoff QBs" and both games came down to FGs at the end. The D needs to get better for us to be favored in games like that, but we can compete with anyone as is.
Our defense still has Lawrence, Gallimore, Hill, Joseph and Wright coming back. The offense is missing Collins and Gallup.

I know some will disagree but these fair questions. Don't get me wrong, love the win but I'd be lying if I said the chunk plays we're giving didn't scare the hell out of me. The good news is we have plenty of time to clean it up,

1. Realitive
  • TB = Average (31, 48, 24, 19, 45)
  • LAC = Best (20, 17, 30, 28, 47)
  • PHI = Average (32, 11, 21, 30, 21)
  • CAR = Worst (19, 26, 24, 28, 18)
  • NYG = Average (13, 29, 14, 27, 20)
Conclusion: They are pretty much holding opponents to about average of what they would have scored against other Ds so far this season.
2. Playoff QBs
  • Brady = Not only Playoff QB, but contender
  • Herbert = Likely Playoff QB
  • Hurts = Not Playoff QB
  • Darnold = Maybe Playoff QB
  • Jones/Backup = Not Playoff QB
Conclusion: We can only play who is on our schedule, but we have played pretty good against some really good / playoff caliber QBs.

This is not to say the D does not have work to do to continue to get better, but they are clearly a work-in-progress who is WAY ahead of where I think anyone thought they would be at this point of the year.

I'm 99% sure the vast majority were unsure if Dallas could even have an average Defense before the bye. At this point, it is pretty much what they are.

It’s an offensive league now, the great QBs are going to get theirs. Most playoff games against great QBs are won by scoring in the high-20s and 30s, not shutting them down.

So don’t worry about it, ultimately our offense is going to have to outscore a team that will have just as much of not more trouble stopping us.

They will give up a lot of yards and some points against elite QBs just like every NFL team does.

Stop worrying about the defense. It’s championship caliber because the standard is so low.
going from bottom sucking defense to average in one year is a great feat....just being average is good at this point. difference is run defense, if you can't stop the run, you are not going to be good defensively and turnovers.

It is simple. So far, all QB's have thrown for 300 or more against our secondary.(a couple yards short from those clowns today). So we will have to outscore all the better teams.(see Chargers, Bucs) Teams will continue to wear out Brown and game plan to do that very thing. So... if we can continue to outscore good teams we will be fine. Cardinals, Chiefs, Packers, Rams , Bucs (again),etc..You get the point. These teams are coming!

I think we’re a lot better than average and I don’t care what the stats or anything say.

Dallas puts heat on the QB and it causes problems.

The 85 Bears can't exist in this free agency era of football. A defense will only be great for, at the very most, four years. So how many SB's can a team win within those four years of having a dominant defense?

The problem with building a dominant defense is...some of those draft picks that would be used for defensive players are being used for quality backups, on the offensive side of the ball.

So most teams have the same questions about their defense.

Like TB, and Herbert? I thought they did well considering.

It's unknown really. How wel will Joseph play, and the D with Lawrence back after the obvious discovery of how disruptive Parons can be without the help? How much better will the offense be with Lael?

I named two players amongst many. We've done something we haven't done in a long time. Played thru injury. This team IS special. Make no mistake. Or do. Please do.
