I'll admit - I had the Cowboys at 8-9 at the start of the season. If thinks keep going well, they will be a solid playoff team.

Which brings me to this - they need an upgrade at backup QB, in case Dak got hurt. The answer: Nick Foles. He is sitting on the Bears bench as QB3. He has shown he can fill in and drive a team to victory. I know, you will say if Pack lost Rodgers or Chiefs lost Mahomes, Bills lost Allen, etc. However, as we have seen, if you think you have a shot, then by all means do everything you can. Cooper Rush and Wil Grier will not cut it. Go get Foles now, so he can have the bye week to learn the system.

Not a terrible idea....but I think if they were uncomfortable with the backup QB situation they would have addressed it already.

Don't sleep on Grier. He isnt terrible.

But I see your point overall. The reality is, the season is over if #4 goes down for more than a couple of weeks.

To me, there were 2 factors.. 1. The offensive line and 2. the Defense. Ironically they're strengths right now.

Outside of his time in Philly, Foles has been garbage. He couldn't even keep Trubisky on the bench in Chicago.

If the Bears release him I'd consider him, but I'm not trading anything for him.

Naaaaah, if Prescott gets hurt, give Moore a bonus to play QB. He's calling the plays anyway, save some time on the call in.

Foles gets a lot of credit for that job in Philly but he had a lot of help.

If Prescott goes down for an extended period of time, the hopes of this season are over. Show me the team that can keep it up after losing a top 10 QB and he might even be top 5 now.

The need isn't at backup QB, if they're looking to trade, it's on the D and maybe the OL.

I'd give Will Grier a shot before trading for Nick Foles. Yeah Grier struggled a couple of years ago when given opportunities, but he's been in the league a few years now and I think he's actually a pretty capable backup. From most accounts I heard, he outplayed PJ Walker in the preseason and Carolina just wanted to go with the more mobile backup.

I wouldn't. You need experience in a backup QB when you're a contender. Foles has been there and done that. Grier doesn't even know what it's like to win a game in this league.

Totally agree. Special looking seasons don't come around too often. Now is the time. Get him trained during bye week.

This team is more than a solid playoff team. They are a legit contender.

Right, I would not mind him here but not for a trade. Unless a 7th round pick. Or a 2023 6th round. We do not have a 6th in 2022. Also depends on his contract.

The Eagles traded for Minshew and he has yet to be active. He can’t even beat out Flacco. I would rather have Minshew than Foles as a backup.

Foles will linger around the NFL for another 5 or 6 years as a 3rd string emergency QB.

Cowboys should have been all over Minshew. Foles is best option out there. You want Cooper Rush? no thanks

Foles is making $4 million a year in salary which the Cowboys would wind up paying a pro-rated portion under $3 million. The Bears could use the CAP relief. Trading him would save them a couple of million.

But the trade would leave Dallas with under $2 million in CAP room.

Personally, I agree with other that Foles played well for the Eagles and no one else. He is probably better than Rush but is he better than Grier or Garrett Gilbert?

I don't care who plays quarterback we've got to get him out of the pocket once in a while. I was not a fan of Scott linehan's offense per se, but in 2016 he did move Dak and kept him out of trouble just enough to make the defense honest .
so a RPO or just a flat roll out or boot would be amazing.
The problem being is Moore is his daddy's son and their friends all preach pure pocket quarterback offenses. I know it gives you the whole field yada yada I know but every 4th or 5th pass rolling out would be a wonderful addition to this offense especially in the red zone

8-9 was a little low. Easy schedule, weak division, new defensive coach + lots of defensive signings/picks. 8 wins is only 2 more than last year when they had like 8 starters on IR

I forgot all about Will Grier being signed. If Dak goes down for season - I'd let him get the first crack at it, if that fails, then I'd hold my nose and give Cam a call.
