Always interesting….Here are some noteworthy tidbits:
  • The Cowboys had 78 snaps vs giants 68.
  • Jabril Cox only had 4 snaps. With the release of Jaylon Smith, Cox is expected to see more action. He did make a big play at the goal line against Daniel Jones. Will he start getting more playing time next week?
  • Jayron Kearse was the only defender to play on all 68 giants snaps.
  • Micah Parsons is playing more each week. He had 63 snaps Sunday which was 93%.
  • Zeke and Pollard had a 60-40 split in PT. Zeke had 47 snaps (60%) and Pollard had 31 snaps (40%). That’s good for production and saves some wear on Zeke.
Anything else jump out?

DE snaps were interesting for this game. Don’t know if it is just specific for this game or a possible trend.
Basham 56 snaps
Odig 41 snaps
Golston 40 snaps
Gregory 39 snaps

Golston with more snaps than Gregory and almost as many as Odig. Golston has really came on the past 3 games.

Could it be that Golston is very good?
Could it be that Golston will be as good or better than Odig?
I am glad both are on the team.

What does this mean for Gregory in a contract year? How high of a contract are the Cowboys willing to spend on Gregory with Golston, Odig, and Basham under contract?

Interesting to see what happens with snap counts when Armstrong is back.

Oh, well when you have a stud like Armstrong back it shakes everything up.

And I don't know that you look to re-sign Gregory with Basham still on the roster.

This depth is amazing.

It really is very good depth. Cowboys can sub players in and stay fresh the whole game. If they can stay healthy, this depth will really pay off in Dec and Jan.

Armstrong was playing pretty well before injury.

I was looking and noticed that CWill is our only offensive line starter that didn't any ST snaps.
Instead they use McG (assuming since he took 8 along with the rest of the oline).

Feel free to call me lazy for not looking it up, but who is the Long Snapper right now?

Exactly. When the guy who struggles to get to the QB gets tired you sub in a fresh guy who struggles to get to the QB.

There's no drop off.

Basham and Armstrong are not starters.

Gregory is.

If you're going to shyte on a player, why not Tank who is overpaid, underperforming and unavailable.

You must not read well. I was responding to a comment that maybe the team won't want to re-sign Gregory if Basham is still under contract.

Sometimes snap counts are greatly influenced by the opponent and the matchups as well as the scheme they use. Some backup players may get higher snaps one week because of the opponent followed by less snaps the following week against another.

Never sure if you are being serious or not.

Basham is a rotation player at best.

Sign Gregory to a reasonable contract or find a better player in FA.

That is not Basham.

Exactly my point and neither is Armstrong.

I'd quietly be negotiating a 2-3 year extension with Jayron Kearse RIGHT NOW.

If he snags 2-3 interceptions he's going to get paid well.
I understand the idea- Might be a little early. I like Kearse a lot but I would wait for some more games of consistency from him before making a longer term contract commitment. But he has certainly earned consideration.

Game situation, too. Backups tend to get more snaps in 20+ point wins.

Oh but btw, until Gregory actually starts sacking the QB more he's overrated. Way, way overrated here.

He's played 3 games, 2 sacks.

And leads team in total pressures, 1 which lead to AB pick 6.

Gregory doing just fine.

Let me know when Basham has a fraction of that production.

It's absolutely too early, and his agents would be nearly foolish to let him sign anything. He's 27 years old and has started as many games this season as he has his entire career. This is his ONE shot at a good contract.
