he just needs to take it.
it sucks.
but it doesn't matter what the ruling was.
the tom brady case proved that.
a 1,000 judges could rule in his favor.
the league will use their clout and in the end...get a ruling saying he must serve his suspension.
nothing about this passes the smell test.
collins needs to just take his medicine and get back to playing ball.
meanwhile...i'd let my legal team find another legal route to pursue.
something is rotten in denmark.
i wouldn't let it go.
just change direction.

No.......if that's all we are saving for 2022, his value means way more.......but after 2022, no question.

While the savings is minimal in 2022, keep in mind Dallas let J. Smith go to avoid guaranteeing his salary for 2022 against injury.Seeing as how Collins missed all of 2020 due to injury and he got busted for avoiding standard drug tests, Dallas has to look at the fact Collins may just be done and they have Steele under contract through 2022 (less than $1M each season) it should be looked at.

Cant Collins play guard?

Yes he can. Next off season will be interesting.

if the cowboys can’t resign Connor Williams. Their two options to replace other than sign or draft a guy will be McGovern or Move Collins to guard and Steele at tackle.

Though I think they’ll probably believe that McGovern at guard and keeping Steele as the swing is the smarter move. Which I would be inclined to agree with.

Front office didn’t come to his defense, coaches didn’t come to his defense, NFLPA didn’t come to his defense, teammates didn’t come to his defense, friends didn’t come to his defense, arbitrator didn’t come to his defense, judge didn’t come to his defense. At least he can count his agent as loyal to him. Things that make you go hmmm, u-huh.

Let me know when the Collins fanboys are going to roll out the red carpet for his triumphant return.

The NFLPA is why the suspension was cut to 2 games from 5 or 6, I forget. He didn't like that, so he fought it anyway. I've been in unions for over 30 years. If you don't agree to the settled amount gained by the union you take it to a hearing. But now the settlement doesn't apply. It goes back to the original suspension because you refused what the union bargained for. If you're going to do this you have to have a rock solid can't lose argument. In most cases you won't even accomplish what the union did for you.

Hopefully that's over and LC can get back ready to play ball.

Dude missed a whole season because why? That's still a mystery to me. Then follows his 1 yr absence with a 5 game suspension. I just wonder is this a bad stretch for LC, or is he turning a bad corner?

What happens if we lose Tyron Smith which isn't a reach considering he hasn't played a full season god knows how long. Also, what's Collins's trade value? I'm guessing we're lucky if we can anything north of a 5th rounder. If you don't think much of him why would any other team? All this to save only $1.2M? Hard no for me .........too valuable to keep IMO.

Jerry being vague:
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/10/12/motion-to-halt-lael-collins-suspension-denied/

Terence Steele will remain at right tackle for the Cowboys this week and Jones discussed the possibility that he’ll remain there once Collins is back on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday.

“Is he an argument I guess — I guess that’s okay to say he’s an argument, a case, whatever. And, boy, has he,” Jones said. “He’s just played outstanding. Boy, he has shown me he has a long-term future in this game and this game with the Cowboys. So, he’s played outstanding relatively speaking. Now, that doesn’t mean that La’el Collins is any less of a player. La’el Collins is a significant member of the team. And, so, this just gives us what you hope for: young player ascending and gives us depth and gives us, if you will, an alternative. All of that is there.”

Then Steele could either shift to LT or stay at RT with Nsekhe or Knight could play either LT or RT.

Again, this isn't just about $1.2M in 2022 but if they moved on.

That said, I looked at over the cap and as a post 2021 June 1st trade/release candidate, his dead money would be split amongst seasons so it actually would look like this in terms of savings:

2021 $1.1M saved ($5.25M dead money)
2022 $10M saved ($5.25M dead money)
2023 $10M saved ($5.25M dead money)
2024 $10M saved ($3.45M dead money)

Again, if I am reading the site correctly Dallas would spread his dead money out over numerous years but would result in a savings each season as a result.

So in theory if Collins were traded/released this season then the savings of $10M next season could be used towards re-signing TE Schultz and WR Wilson for instance.

While trading/releasing pieces now may not seem to make sense given the way Dallas is playing, sometimes moves like J. Smith are needed for a better tomorrow to build a more well rounded team.

Why did Collins think he would get the suspension lifted? He missed like 7 tests and tried to bribe the tester.

Serve it. And I would not cut him yet. Let’s see who comes out of suspension.

Good ....... I know it is not my money ........ but I do not want this to drag on any longer.

See you after the bye Collins ........ welcome to the tight end position Steele.
I wonder how much money he wasted going to court.
