Cowboys need to work on their recovery game

Two fumble recoveries in the first half the big guy recovers and gets tackled pretty quickly. Golston got the scoop after the Gregory blow up hit and could have handed it to Parsons who would have waltzed 60 yards for a TD. Instead he tries to run with it and makes it 5 yards before they get him down. Then later Gifford had a fast guy he could have handed it to.. I think it was Goodwin.. but he tried to run with it and is tackled within two steps. I know this is some next level stuff .. but this is something I'd like to see in our team. These are opportunities to turn a big play into a HUGE play..

These are also opportunities to give the ball right back to the other team by trying to do too much. These are not offensive players with planned handoffs or pitches or who are used to handling the ball. You ask then to make improvised decisions and unfamiliar actions on the spur of the moment they are going to screw it up some of the time. The main goal is to get the ball

Like I said.. it's next level stuff. Not saying we ALWAYS need to be doing it but in some situations I think it's worth looking at. Every team I ever played on the defense practiced those situations and got to where every bigun on the defense could at least hand the ball to the smaller faster guy.. I don't see it as asking pros to be able to pull off a simple handoff when junior high, high school and college kids do it all the time... I could maybe give Gifford a pass because he had to get up off the ground but Golston had no excuse. Parsons was right there next to him and if he had simply given to him that was 6.. Those are plays that not only get you points and energize your team but absolutely CRUSH the opponent.

actually, they've been really good at it. We've fumbled more this year but recovered a bunch. This team is fast.

no, lets not have defensive players trying to get fancy with the ball and handoffs and what not.....as long as they get on top of the ball and secure it first, then run with it if a chance.....getting the ball back is all we need....I can't tell you how many times I have seen Defensive players trying to pick up the ball, they missed it and the offense recovered. or they tried to hand it off and fumbled it against...

yeah, its easy for us fans to watch replays and make comments but its not easy during the game. job number one is to recover and secure the ball.

Another thing that needs work is the 2pt conversion. The play calling on those haven’t been Moores better ones.

In the heat of the moment the player is trying to concentrate on the recovery. I believe they are not aware who is around them.

The fans watching on TV know the players in the vicinity. On the Golhston recovery I thought the same thing, he could have reached up and handed the ball off to Parsons. But we would have crucified him if NE had recovered a botched hand off instead of just recovering the ball.

As a fan I just want them to fall on the ball. We have one of the best offenses, let them do the scoring.

I like your posts all the time but you are 100% wrong on this one. Didn’t even have a chance to do what you mention here.

I'da rather they go down and secure the possession change

That's right. Ronnie is being a HUIGE nit picking doosh bag territory now. With all due respect ron!

They are taught to fall on it.

Ronnie is the same "fan" the would totally implode if he tried to scoop it to someone and botched it.

"JUST FALL ON IT !" he would yell.

Ronnie is moving into TROLL stuff here. For shame.

Yep this is a VERY disappointing development form ron. He's not teaching fundamentals. What is going on?

When there is a fumble just everyone go for it
The recovery is what’s important
Any extra yards you get are gravy
I don’t want a guy letting the other team recovering thinking about a return

Oh okay..since you say so?

You think "karma" decides football games. And you lecture ME?

Ronnie is wrong here.....Secure the ball even if you don't make a splash play. football 101.

But wait "karma" can get us that Touchdown!

Exactly...simple. Cover the ball...is what they are taught. They don't always do it....and sometimes the **** up.

Like he said. We’re doing great you have to critique something. I don’t know why everyone’s taking it so personal . But you’re right and so is cowboy lover, just fall on the freaking ball. Worry about what happens afterwards
