I want to be able to say driving while intoxicated is a really dumb decision and it might even be worse for a NFL player who has resources provided by the teams to handle stuff like this.

You seem completely bothered and almost unhinged by the fact people are calling what he did stupid.

Also I didn’t call him an idiot or stupid. I said what he did was stupid. There’s a pretty clear distinction between the two. Smart people can do dumb things. Kazee did a really dumb thing.

Dude, YOU’RE the one that called my opinion that some empathy should be shown towards Kazee in lieu of derogatory insults “bizarre” lol.

Once again (and again and again and again lol), given the human experience we share coupled with the overwhelming evidence supporting developing brains well into the mid-20’s, along with behavioral science/hormone levels/risk-reward decision making etc etc etc, I see nothing “bizarre” about showing empathy toward another human being who makes an ubiquitous mistake seen throughout America in every state, every day of every year.

But go ahead and indulge in your freedom to call him stupid and me bizarre for having empathy for him lol.

If that’s what you really really really want …

And I am sure he knows by now. He has likely been told by all his family and friends and some players and coaches. Guessing nobody feels worse than he does. And we will see the specifics of it soon. Was he drunk. Do they not offer a breathalyzer any more.
That’s something else as well and blueblood has made this point repeatedly…

No one knows his BAC or whether or not the SFSTs were performed appropriately.

You know…

That whole innocent till proven guilty thing.

Do you know that someone can make a conscious decision to drink and then unconsciously get behind the wheel of a car?

And it can happen a lot more than people realize. Some experts believe 1 in 10 people are afflicted with it. I don't know Kazee so I can't speculate as to whether he is afflicted with this problem but he could be. "Young" alcoholics don't always "decide" to drink and drive. They only decide to drink. With experience, they can come to realize they can't drink but most don't. Not taking any side, just clarifying a common misconception.

Wonder about arresting officer. Wasnt it around home town. These players frequent the same bars and encounter the same officers. Maybe he didn’t like Kazee getting burned on that play. Lol. JK. Who knows we may never know the specs of this. Lots of times it “goes away”. See if goodell suspends him.

Lol maybe ‘cuz it was definitely Kazee and not Diggs who missed their assignment on that play. It just looks like Diggs screwed up to someone causally watching the play. We shot ourselves in the foot repeatedly on Sunday and should have won by three TDs.

And NE knows it..

Eminently fixable mistakes too..

In Texas a person can be arrested even if they're under the legal limit. And if a cop smells alcohol on you, sees an open or empty container, or sees you take a sip, you can be arrested. Their first obligation is to the other drivers in the road. So someone could pass all of the test and still be charged. Heck you could walk out of a bar sit in your car, waiting on a ride, and still get arrested.

I am upset about the 3rd and goal after the blocked punt. Daks body is half way across the line. Should have been called a TD and reviewed. We also had missed FG and many penalties that need to be cleaned up. We had I think 30 more plays than the pats. Happy to get the win.

You keep accusing me of saying things I have never said. Nowhere did I crucify him. I haven’t even said one thing about what I would like to see happen to him.

I said what he did was stupid and selfish. And it was.

If you consciously drink and unconsciously drive it's still illegal. This is why smart people have a plan to NOT drive. There are many ways to drink responsibly and prevent NOT driving. It's actually really simple. This was just a dumb decision. Period.

Did I say anything about the legality of drinking and driving?

There are a lot of "smart" people who are alcoholics. My brother is my closest example of this.

My grandfather was an alcoholic. He never was able to break drinking so my Grandmother hid the keys to their car. Why? Because he would drink without any intention of driving but when he blacked out, he would do all sorts of things he would never do when he had the capability to make a conscious decision.

For survival, seasoned alcoholics create mechanisms to avoid these type of consequences from occurring. Why? So they can continue to drink. Un-seasoned alcoholics haven't figured it out yet.

(sigh) Inexcusable.

Especially considering NFL Players supposedly have an advantage of drivers' service aid assistants and couriers per NFL team, and NFLPA
per Jessie Holley, the driving services will even carry an extra driver to bring home the expensive car from the lot.
That's about being responsible and planning ahead. Not waiting to the very worst to tragically happen to finally learn.

I think most of us agree that what Kazee did was stupid, irresponsible, selfish, dangerous and whatever else you want to call it. Because we don't know the kid I think we should steer clear of some of these harsh judgements. He may legitimately have a drinking problem for which he needs help or he may just be a guy who feels okay after a couple of drinks and doesn't think twice about it because he believes he is still under control. Full disclosure.. I don't drink.. never have.. Lost two loved ones to drunk drivers when I was young.. I have zero affinity for drunk drivers or drunks in general. But I acknowledge they are people. Kazee COULD have hurt himself or others driving drunk. But he didn't, so acting like he did is like people carrying on about how a certain QB COULD have thrown more interceptions. I trust the Cowboys and the league will delve into this incident and figure out if this is an ongoing problem for which he needs help or if he's just a guy who made a mistake in judgement. If it's the latter and he never has another incident then he'll be fine. If it's the former he will probably out of the league shortly ..

Simple question. Did Kazee do something stupid if he drove intoxicated?

I have not seen any indication that he was intoxicated. But yes, what he did, driving after drinking, was stupid..

That's why I used the word "if". That being said, he apparently failed a field sobriety test which is why he got arrested in the first place so while we don't know for sure, there is at least some basis to believe he may have been too drunk to drive.
