Still holding onto Cooper in the offseason?

It’s possible you could trade him
But that would only work if a guy fell to you in the draft who can replace him

Yah its the replacement thing Im not understanding here. Lamb and Gallup are better than 80% of the NFL tandems in the NFL. And with Shultz its plenty of fire power in the passing game. More than enough.

22 million be used elsewhere? This has always been a hot topic. It will certainly depend on Gallup. In my opinion we no longer need to pay Cooper 22 million when Lamb as the new #1. I try to sign Gallup for a reasonable price.
Cee Dee and Gallup is optimal if Cooper wants more than 12-14 mil . Gallup can be signed with 11-12 . Cee Dee is the main receiver and most talented

Just a reminder, here's his contract..........notice his 2022 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the 5th league day of 2022. In other words, you have to make a decision BEFORE the draft. Just me, I doubt we can find his replacement in the draft. What I mean by this, drafting a player who can come in and have the same impact immediately. He's set to make $20M.......for that we can probably sign Gallup AND sign a mid-tier free agent.

Here's list of top 10 WR free agents 2022

1. Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers
2. Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears
3. Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4. Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers
5. Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos
6. Antonio Brown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
7. Will Fuller, Miami Dolphins
8. Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys
9. DJ Chark Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
10. Emmanuel Sanders, Buffalo Bills

I would rather have Gallup for 7 million less. Cooper is brittle and not getting any younger.
Gallup has missed way more games then Cooper and is not half the player Amari is. You can replace Gallup with the guys we have already on the roster or draft another Gallup in the 3rd round. Gallup has developed well but he is a product of the Cowboys offense, Dak and Cooper. Same with Shultz. McKeon can replace him too.

Crazy that old boy is saying that the guy that is playing is brittle while the guy he's pimping is out from injury.

Weird stuff.

I have posted this so many times already but the Cowboys need to come up with $20 million just to get under the CAP. After that they need to find more CAP room to sign their own free agents or someone else's.

Cooper is a $16 million CAP save if they cut him or trade him. The rest they can make up by restructuring a few players a little but then they need to find room for free agents. The other guys they can look at is Lawrence but doing anything pre-June 1 saves them $8 million. Designating him a post-June 1 cut saves them $19 million. But I don't think there is any chance the just cut him. He has to be worth at least a 3rd round pick.

I think they keep Cooper and Lamb and let Gallup and Wilson walk. I think they restructure Cooper and Dak and maybe a few other guys to get under the CAP and take the roster hits until the CAP increases from the new TV contracts. 2022 and maybe 2023 will be lean years for Dallas.

Thought about it myself especially when they chose not to restructure him this summer. Considering Belicheck decided to shut him down along with the run that last game, despite the busted ribs … they need to be damm sure, even more so with all the 12 personnel they’ve become enamored with. Also might want to consider if boy wonder leaves or not!

Wilson is a really solid player too
But you have a more dynamic offense with 3 good ones
But replacing Cooper with Gallup doesn’t help much cap wise
Gallup is gonna get paid
20 WR’s make 14 mil or more and that will go up this off season
Gallup is gonna get 12 or more
He’s not a one to me but he’s a really good two

You dont think that Gallup can get 1100 yards and 6-8 TD's without Cooper in the lineup? He has already dont that.

Lamb is the one that is replacing Cooper. Its Wilson that wont be able to replace Gallup. Not opposed to drafting a young receiver. We can also find plenty of good veterans in FA.

I don't think so.... when Cooper is gone Lamb will have coverage rolled to him all the time. Gallup is great but he can be stopped. I think Cooper is the guy that stirs the drink and it was obvious it started stirring soon after he arrived with Dak. I don't think we need to rush Cooper out. Keep him and Lamb together as long as possible, a #3 receiver is easier to find. Cooper+Lamb+whoever >>>> Lamb+Gallup+whoever.

Remember some on the Zone thought we paid to much for Cooper in the first place. Cooper has plenty of haters on this board and with the local media.

Coopers contract can be renegotiated. He has very little guarenteed money left
I seriously doubt Cooper will accept much less base pay on a renegotiation. Cooper is still "young" (27 years old) and is right in his prime years, so renegotiating to keep Cooper will only cost the Cowboys more in the long run.

I'll never understand the rush to get rid of Cooper... things turned around offensively for Dak when we traded for him and that was when raggedy Garrett was still here. When he's banged up things go south also. He's expensive but we don't have to pay Lamb for a couple more years. Then you make a decision... I'd get out of the Zeke contract first and restructure Cooper to free up cap.

I much rather have Cooper. you know where he’s going to be . But that’s the beauty of our receiving group. Everyone has their own special talent

You guys want to keep 2 #1s at WR. It's simply not affordable.

I'd rather keep Cooper and move on from Gallup.. Cooper is a number one receiver, Gallup is a number two

CeeDee is now becoming our #1 WR. He currently leads all receivers in receptions and yards received. This team can not afford to keep two #1 paid WRs, hence why Gallup should be kept since he's a very good #2 receiver (averages 820 yards receiving/year, plus 5+ TDs) who would be cheaper to keep. So, Cowboys will have to choose which #1 receiver (paid) to keep. It's very obvious, CeeDee is the future. This season might very likely be Cooper's last year in Dallas due to how much he costs.

Ceedee is the slot receiver
