People are going to have to come to terms that some good players are going to have to be shown the door for long term salary cap success. This was New England’s specialty, Dallas has always been horrible with these types of decisions.

The time to get good at it is now, before it’s to late and you’re losing good AND young players because you can’t afford them.

I think sacrificing players like Coop, Tank, and eventually Zeke are decisions this team is going to have to make if they want to enjoy anything other than abbreviated success. They have players in those positions already that can be paid much less that are comparable, and you can always draft good RBs.

It’s getting close to time for a lot of tough decisions this franchise is going to have to make. When in doubt go with good, young, and cheap (or cheaper) before better, extremely high paid, and in their prime now guys. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think Shultz will be as hard to keep as some think. We are in a cap crunch this year, but his year 1 cap hit should be low. Our cap situation will be more manageable in 2023 and beyond because this is the last year of the depressed cap, and the cap will go up alot when the TV deal hits.

@CowboyRoy isnt wrong about his injury concerns. He could be an old 27. That's a real concern if you are looking to have him into his 30's. I think he will be here for most of Lambs rookie deal, and then we will move on

I agree, they won't pay both Lamb and Coop top dollar, so #19 has 2 more years at the most.

Pretty funny how out of touch some people on this thread are about Gallup’s price tag next season. Look at Curtis Samuel/Kenny Golloday/Corey Davis contracts. These are going to be the general starting points for his negotiations.

Anyone who thinks 10-12M is his price tag is completely ignoring the WR precedent. If a team thinks you can be a 1B-type you will get 14-15M at least.

Shoot even a guy like Sterling Shepard who is a true slot #2 type and signed a contact years ago has a 14M cap hit this season.

That's the blueprint for on field success in the NFL. Now with Mccarthy at helm I trust the FO to stop paying 2nd & 3rd tier players elite salaries.

I don't think Lamb is Lamb without Coop either and Gallup doesn't change the equation.

Just my opinion, but I get that there's a cap and sacrifices must be made as regards to personnel.

Totally with you. I think Coop is worth the cap hit. I really like Gallup as well but don't anticipate Gallup being a cheap signing. In order to really look at it we'd need to know Gallups numbers as well as the cap hit. I'm just not sure you can save enough to justify letting Coop go.
