Cowboys defensive tackle Trysten Hill returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since his ACL tear on October 11, 2020.

That’s right. Only a few plays after Dak Prescott’s brutal leg injury that’s become etched into the mind of every Cowboys fan, another starter went down with a season-ending injury — and he’s only just now coming back. Defensive tackle Trysten Hill returned to the practice field, and Head Coach Mike McCarthy is excited to see what he brings to the flourishing Cowboys defense.

I know I’m in the minority here with Hill, but I’m excited to see him in this system with DQ. I felt that he made some good progress prior to his injury. He seemed explosive and always seemed to be making a push into the backfield. Get some young fella!

Hey we need depth at that position arguably more than any other.

We are in no spot to feel like we don't need him.

I'm just really surprised that Gallimore isn't back. That injury was almost four months ago.

Hill played decently right before his injury

He played okay but if he doesn’t step his game up and stay healthy he won’t be back next year. This is year three and he has to show something. This coaching staff didn’t draft him.

Just throwing this out there- if Hill can come back strong and be a solid contributor under Dan Quinn, the Cowboys have three young building blocks inside the d-line along with Odighizuwa and Gallimore. This bodes well for the future.

Correct me if my wrong but wasn’t this staff pretty high on him last year, and the off-season? I seem to recall they were. Also what’s his contract status after this year after missing all the time due to injury?

I am too. We invested a lot of capital in Hill, and it would be nice to see it pay dividends under this new coaching staff.

I don't see Hill as a starter as the article suggest, but It would be cool if Hill could provide some pass rush beside Osa in obvious passing situation, while serving as a backup for Osa to keep them both fresh.

I think this might be his final shot. He is stepping into a good situation where he can help. He better or this will be it for him in Dallas. IMO.

He will probably get limited snaps, to start with. And yes he will and should be part of the front line rotation.
If anyone is gonna have a "breakthrough" with Hill, it will be Quinn.
He's in year 3 of a 4 year rookie contract. He should at least play out the 4 years, and they can determine if he will then earn a new contract. Let's all give him the chance to work his way back into playing shape and form.

Regardless of injury, he’s gotta show improvement or he won’t be here next year. I’m hoping he surprises us all. He’s got the nasty attitude I like he’s just gotta channel it

I think it was Mike Nolan who is high on him but he was also high on Jaylon and a couple of other players who are no longer here. Hill will be entering the final year of his contract next season.

when Gallimore comes back Hill will be inactive many games..we will simply have too many players of the same position there who most likely are better, hope he proves me wrong..he can help why urban and Gallimore are gone..
