Was Lamb a little gimpy on the overthrows?

I know it's time to move on to the Falcons but it occurred to me as I watched that game last week that Lamb could not find the gear to go get those balls. Generally he has been a guy who has been able to hit the turbo button and go get it. We know he sat out a lot of practice after the ankle tweak which meant not only was he gimpy but the timing with Dak was not where it needed to be. Did Dak heave those balls with a 100% Lamb in mind but that guy wasn't playing on Sunday. I know the haters will whine that this is excuse making but who cares? When things go wrong I look for reasons why.. Those who don't like it are free to go read other people's posts.

They just looked like your average over throws to me. No excuses. They were just bad passes and nobody was hitting on anything for us Sunday.

Perhaps.. but again I am addressing the why.. not the what.. We know they were bad passes.. But was it because Dak was just off or because he and Lamb were not on the same page after not practicing together all week. Dak has been top 2 or 3 in the NFL in deep ball accuracy over the last three seasons.. so when he is not on target with them I wanna know why. Sure we can take the simple route and say "off day" but in addition to the bad throws we also saw 5 balls hit guys in the numbers and end up on the ground.. so it's not like every throw was off.

Midway through the season this is a tough time of the year for those starters who have managed to stay on the roster. Your body starts to get beat up, and you just try to make it one week at a time.

My greatest wish for this team is for everyone to get healthy for the last 3-4 games of the season, and make a big run into the tournament.

It's great to win all the games at the start of the season, but you actually want to be in the mix through the first 3/4 of the season and make a big run in the final stretch and into the palyoffs.

Being healthy for the final sprint makes all the difference.

Yeah it really bothers me how badly teams stumble down the stretch in the modern NFL. Maybe it's the old guy in me but it certainly seems like back in the day good teams would routinely go into the playoffs on an uptick. .. More often than not everybody kinda stumbles into the playoffs these days. Which is odd because the game is less physical than it has ever been, frankly.

I think you're trying to make it more than what it was. It really was just an off day. I blame the coaches allowing them to "eat the cheese". Dak can say whatever he wants to the media, but he was probably feeling himself a little too much also just like the rest of the guys. If it happens again Sunday then we might have a problem, but we will find out.

He was wide a** open and Dak missed him several times. That's what I saw.

OK, I’ll try..

But I thought Dak was dinged up and limited in practice?

Yes he was limited in practice on Wednesday.. and maybe that contributed to the lack of rhythm on offense as well. The coaching staff blew that deal. Moving the daily schedule around after the Sunday night game. Seems like it knocked the whole team off kilter .. especially with the reports that practice have not been great now for the last two weeks.. But I guess this is how McCarthy has handled weeks after Sunday night games in his career. Maybe it worked in Green Bay.. it certainly didn't work this week.. But this does make me curious about how they did in that situation last year..

I’m not going to argue with this take, because it’s respectable.

But again, it still doesn’t address why he became accurate and ‘poised’ in garbage time, with WRs that aren’t starters and were in there, because of the score being so lop-sided.

the throws were off regardless..tired of all the excuses for the game..it was a bad loss a total team loss...

time to let it go already there no one part of the game that truly could have changed the outcome..

Yeah, it was CeeDee Lamb’s injury that made Dak completely miss Cedric Wilson on that short pass that would have converted a 3rd down in the first half.

That was 4th down.. but I put that one squarely on Dak.. he short armed it and it died 2 yards short of the target. I don't know if he was trying to pull the string when he saw the DE jump or if he just read the route shorter.. But it was a missed throw. But he has had at least one throw like that on the short stuff every game as far back as I can remember. Every QB does.. I was addressing the deep throws specifically because he has been money on those for going on three years.
