oh you know this board...the over reaction on a weekly basis is comical often.... a loss and its end of the world, lets tank the season. go for #1 pick. cut everyone in off season. we are the 33rd best team in the NFL, Dak sucks...etc..That's not what people said last week.
Wonder why he wasn’t pursued more aggressively after fired at Green Bay?
Looks like he has more success when he has an Elite QB and talent . Without it he has losing records.
I think McCarthy is more about relationships and chemistry than he was in GB.
Landry was the greatest, but he was more X’s and O’s Than relationships.
- It started back in camp with his emphasis that the SB he won in GB took 79 players over the course of the season and playoffs, and it would take everyone to get there now.
- We have had lots of key guys miss games, yet backups have stepped up.
- He has worked on chemistry and TEAM all year, not just with the latest Bingo thing.
- Yet he also calls guys out, players and coaches when they don’t practice well or play well.
- He’s been confident in changing coaches and letting them coach….yet the head coach must get coaches to pull together just as much as players.
Parcells was more hard *** with Cowboys, successful, but always with the fear, the pointing out flaws, sort of the no fun coach….which works if you win, but wears thin if not.
Jimmy Johnson and McCarthy both work on the psychology of the team. They pull guys together, support and massage the stars, get players to buy in, yet are also willing to call guys out, replace coaches, release players, play young, inexperienced guys, anything to win.
I’m not putting fat Mike above or even equal to any coach named, just saying he and his coaches have this team playing for each other as a team where even the backups are prepared and valued, knowing they are key to success. I think he’s doing a very good job, even when the team underperforms.
Yep...McCarthy is a very good coach.

He's better than the last guy, who SUCKS!
Parcells flatly didn't care and anyone that cared to look could see it.
That's not what people said last week.
I'll wait until he gets us to the NFC Championship before I designate him a good coach.
I'm still not convinced, however. Why?
He hired Nolan. And let's be honest, if Jerry hadn't fired Nolan, MM would have retained him.
MM and Nolan had a working bond, and it is difficult for coaches to let go of coordinators and position coaches who have been loyal to them.
So, I give him no credit for getting rid of Nolan and hiring Quinn.
As far as the offense, MM inherited Kellen Moore. KM is running this offense. And even though I'm not totally sold on KM, what's being done on offense is more Moore's doing than McCarthy's.
The Cowboys have been talented for several years, just haven't had the coaching. Even when they did, Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett managed 13-3 seasons. So that tells you all you need to know about talent and records. But neither coach could get us pass the divisional round.
I'm looking for more from MM. If he gets us to the NFC Championship Game, I'll consider his coaching prowess, provided once we get there he doesn't make a bone-head decision that costs us the game.
In other words, the jury is still out on MM.
What do you base that on?
I mean he got us in the playoffs with Quincy Carter. Nothing in BP's nature has ever indicated that he did anything less than all out. Not trying to argue ... just don't understand the point of view.
Dallas has some very good players. Good talent has a way of making coaches look better than they actually are. MM was not good last year, or even last week for that matter.McCarthy is a very good coach.
Parcells got very emotional when talking about that team that played well above their talent level.Anyone who saw Parcells tear up in a press conference after we won our 8th game declaring 'that you couldn't call these guys losers anymore' would never post that nonsense that he didn't care while coaching in Dallas.
The best things that MM has done as a HC here:
-Retain Moore and give him full control of the offense to call plays and stay out of the way
-Fire Nolan after one year and bring in Quinn
-Two great drafts and addressing the biggest holes on defense and the team
Those 3 decisions right there are the big difference to me. Three things that Garrett could not and would not do.
MM in game management is suspect at best.
Obviously I haven't paid attention.Well, Bill has a winning record now with a Rookie QB.
