A commercial I don't get

And it seems like it's on all the time...

In addition it's a lousy commercial with an irritating song.

I've spent 3 decades in marketing and I can't believe out of all the ideas that were probably discussed this is what they decided on.

.. and yet you are posting it on a site for others to see!

Seems quite effective to me .. :D

Even when you finally meet the one other person like you in the world. Taco Bell is better! Yeah, ok!

I must admit liking how the Taco Bell chime is synchronized with the banging of the trash can.

Or is it that I am associating Taco Bell with trash?

I better re-watch the commercial a few more times to be sure.

Yes it is stupid. Taco bell beats out young love or lust. Yeah right.
You sure that's what it was? The tall guy looked like he had indigestion, or maybe he was embarrassed that someone else wore the same outfit.

The short (girl?) just looked lost and embarrassed at having been clumsy.

I think this is their attempt at imitating the concept behind a perfume commercial. Insert product amid the confusing visuals and maybe it'll stick.

You mean like this one?

Which I admit is one of my all-time favorites.

Hard to believe it's now over 40 years-old.

Wish someone would post a HD version on YouTube.

Anyway I don't have a problem with a commercial that "beats around the bush" a little or makes you think, I just you have to be careful as a marketer not to reach too far.

BTW the "Chanel No. 5" commercial was directed by Ridley Scott... Yes, that Ridley Scott.

I was thinking more like the one where the guy dives into the water, then climbs onto the boat. WTH did that have to do with cologne? It would probably be faster to list the perfume commercials that aren't absolutely cryptic or completely unrelated to perfume. Doesn't Britney Spears have one of those for her perfume? (I almost referred to it as 'scent' rather than perfume, but these days I don't really wanna think about her scent.

Nah. It follows, a previous commercial they did where two young people finf each other at a beach and are about to kiss but she hears a buoy bell and walks off to Taco bell.

Oh, I see, so the shield hitting the trash can reminded the person in the other video of the Taco Bell bell. Guess I never paid much attention to their commercials. I didn't realize they used a bell sound.

Still stupid, but at least it makes sense now.

It's about the Saga comic book. Where two people, who are in love with one another, struggle to be together because their worlds are at war. So instead of going to her one true love, and starting all kinds of trouble, she answers the call to go to Taco Bell.

Bell is spoofing popular shows, movies and other publications.

There is one that is a spoof on Jaws. Instead of the woman going into the water and being eaten by a shark. She answers the call to go to Taco Bell instead.

So they're basically saying don't go places where trouble lurks. Eat at Taco Bell instead.

I remember the good ole days of the bell when you could get 3 tacos, a bean burrito and a coke for like 3 bucks. Now they price like its great Mexican food
