Dry brined roasted chicken, potatoes roasted in the pan juices with sour cream and chives, peas and pearl onions, Waldorf salad, fresh bread and bringing back a tradition that I've pushed back for 11 Thanksgiving's, champagne for the Cowboys game. My wife loved champagne and Thanksgiving always started the champagne season for her for the holidays. Good time to embrace some memories instead of avoiding them.

I wish for all of you a thoughtful Thanksgiving. Do yourself a favor when you are around family and friends and just take a moment to drink that all in. Take mental photographs of that scene because none of us is guaranteed we will get that exact scene again. As we grow older, there are missing pieces that too often we were not as thankful for them when they were here because we didn't think of that photo before they left it.

When I consciously start to think about all the things I am thankful for in my life, I am always surprised about the length of that list. Especially if I am feeling down or low, I find that's the best time to make that list.

I used to be there's a football game and then all this other stuff. Now, there's all this other great stuff....and a football game.

Going to my extended family's Thanksgiving with about 31 people!!! We all bring something....so there's really TOO much stuff to list here!! Of course, we have all the traditional Thanksgiving meal items, but with a lot of different other things as well....like pasta (we're Italian), Italian sausage, eggplant, etc...... And we have a ton of desserts!! I am bringing my famous cheesecake!! :p
My wife is the oldest of 11....they are all married and have kids, so there will probably be about 60 at the ranch today.....they all know to stay out of my man cave when the game starts!

Home alone for football....just the way I like it....
I just had a pulled pork sandwich. Not sure what I will have later.

A friend said she would put together a plate for me from their family gathering, and drop it off later on.
My son said something about coming over to his place, but have not heard from him. But they know I want to watch the games anyway.
I could go to the bar, they usually have food out also, but rather watch the game in peace.

Turkey, dressing, cranberries, coleslaw, mashed potatoes and all the various trimmings and desserts a big family party could imagine! Can't wait for that and of course, the Cowboys/Vegas Raiders game, as well. I'm hoping we'll win by, approximately, 10 points or so! Enjoy the game and the feast, folks!
