LVE is a liability

I had high hopes for LVE after his Rookie season but injuries have really taken a toll.
My observation of him is that he is bad on doing his assignments physically and he is also slow on his mental recognition.
He is constantly hitting the wrong gaps or slow to get there.
Great guy but an average player at best at this point.

Disagree.

Dallas uses him exactly how he needs to be used and he doesn’t hurt us at all because he’s off the field in situations that don’t play to his strength.

I’ll grant you though that we can’t resign him. I didn’t think I’d see that coming before the season but Quinn wants linebackers who are nearly a safety. He basically wants Jamal Adams at linebacker.

problem with LVE is that he is not parsons.....

Idk if he is a liability, but he isn't really an asset. He and Neal have been the most disappointing parts of the Defense for me.
Yeah I'd probably say the same. I don't even notice him enough to even say he's a liability. He's just out there. He's not making impact plays negatively or positively. A shame what has happened to him because he truly was one of the best linebackers to come through here in awhile especially that rookie season.

LVE just kind of is what he is at this point. Decent, not great run defender, decent rushing the passer for an off ball LB. Terrible in coverage. He has turned into an average traditional 1-2 down LBer, and that is what he is being used as. That has value, just not very much because you can only play him about 35-40% of your snaps.

20 years ago he may still have a large role for a team, but the game has evolved. With the physical limitations he has due to injuries his skillset just doesnt match up with todays game.

They have to bring in an entire new group of LBs because the backups are FAs too.

Id try to keep a couple of back ups at a reasonable price because they are familiar with the system and try to get 2 starters one in FA and one in draft

his draft should be about OL, DL, LB

Cox should be able to impact the LB corps next year with Parsons, but they will need a couple others too. What the heck happened to FBernard, he is signed for next year too...., i also keep hearing Luke Gifford all the time but when does he start showing us on the field that he belongs? Guess they're not DQ type of backers. All said, they do need at least two more next season to contribute with one being a run stuffer.

Liability? Not necessarily, but he's just a guy. Between injuries and just lacking explosiveness, he isn't what he used to be.

He's gone after this season as his 2018 campaign is a blip in time.

I agree, I would like to see more of Bernard.

Hard to say that Cox will impact the LB corps next year. He barely sniffed the field and now he's recovering from a torn ACL. I wouldn't put too many eggs in that basket for next year.

A big reason why we get gashed on the ground is because the 'base' look we give on defense has just 2 linebackers at the second level and neither one of them can shed a block. LVE and Neal is a bad combo.
