Cowboys aren’t a top tier team

We have the 2nd easiest schedule in the NFL so consider that

We have a putrid, but improving defense with a new coordinator and the inability to get FA help because of cap space

We have a slightly improved special teams but still inconsistent kicking

We lead the league in penalties.....nuff said on that

Top tier offense, at times, but inexplicably goes AWOL against certain defenses.

So what’s changed from the last 10 years?

Cutting Michael Sam will haunt this team for a long time

Funny thing is, the back-ups stepped up on defense, when our starters went down. It’s also the starter in DL going down that forced Parsons to DE, which basically turned him into DPOY and the defense looking better than it did. The young guys actually showed they were hungrier on defense.

The DL was not that great with starters but yeah. I am talking about OL primarily. No one gets to SB with weak OL.

Nobody who looks as the injuries and other issues this team has dealt with and says "see they're the same ole Cowboys" can be taken seriously. It's literally not even the same team.. I'm not making excuses but when great players don't play my expectations adjust accordingly. This really isn't that hard.. Without Lawrence and Gregory our pass rush is not as good.. Without Coop and CD our passing game is not as good which in turns diminishes what we can accomplish in the run game.. without Tryon and with the shuffling on the offensive line nothing is going to work as well on the offensive line. Before the calf I think Dak was covering up for how bad our line was playing anyway. I can't count the number of times he shrugged off a guy who had beaten Williams or Steele or Biadasz and made something positive out of it. And how many times has Zeke stepped in front of a guy about to decapitate Dak? And what kind of toll has that taken on HIS body? I really don't understand why people get locked into these ridiculous narratives that the Cowboys have "collapsed" or that teams have "figured them out." Teams have figured out how to beat the Cowboys when the Cowboys are at 75% strength or less. Whoop tee damn doo..

If you took the Cowboys team from the last two games and said that was your roster, we wouldn't expect to be a playoff team, even in the NFC East. Period. That team has a bottom 5 DL, a bottom 5 WR corps, and a very middle of the road OL at best.

And there is no guarantee that they will. But if they do, they're as good as anybody in the league.. which is really what scares the haters to death..

This might feel different to some but it’s not . It’s still the same smoke & mirrors roster that also happens to lead the league in penalties . Typical no accountability Jerry Jones team. Anything can happen in post season but more than likely it will be a spectacular flame out as usual.

That’s a subjective opinion . “ as good as anybody in the league “. Healthy or not.

We could be a tough out but in order to be considered one of the best in the league you have to win in playoffs against some of The best. That’s not hating. The rest is just hype.

I warned early on from buying into the SB hype but this season is anything but over. There’s still no other division in NFC we’d be leading or picked to win. And that’s ok. That’s who we are.

We have never missed the playoffs after starting 6-1 in 14 seasons with 10 division titles and 4 WC’s. And we won’t miss it this year.

And if we have everyone healthy could still be a tough out. No expectations beyond that . No SB hype . No top tier team hype.

We are what we are. No need to pimp it anymore than that. If we beat some top tier teams in playoffs advancing then we could elevate our status . But not until then.

I totally agree with you! When they jumped out to the 6-1 start the media, the fans, the haters, all went crazy! There is no middle ground with the way this team is covered. The expectations are always over-inflated and the criticisms are usually too harsh.

The thing I'm holding onto is everything is still in front of them. Yes, the #1 seed is slipping away but they can still make some noise. I'm still in the wait and see phase. I wouldn't be shocked if they lose again tonight in New Orleans. Of course I hope that doesn't happen but I expect a hard fought tough game again. And I'm also holding onto the fact they were missing some real key guys the last few weeks. I know every team has injuries but a big part of the team has been missing and they are coming back! I'm optimistic things will fall into place again.

I think before the season started all of us would have been really happy with a 7-4 start honestly. Yeah, it was a goofy way to get to 7-4 but things happen. This is the NFL and all of them want the same thing!

Time to get back on track tonight!!
